I just want to thank the OCFPD for the wonderful honor they gave to my parents, Tommy & Diddie Flanagan, at the firemen's BBQ on June 26. Tom Greenwood gave a heart filled speech about my parents that brought tears to many. My parents were very involved in the community and helped where they could. My Mom would go after donations and wouldn't take no for an answer! I can't tell you how many baked potatoes she wrapped and baked. My Dad bought many things he had no use for just to bring money into the FD, but he always found someone to give it to.In the early years he was a great source of entertainment also!! Many times I needed to say thanks the the fire dept and never really found the words, such as when my Mom passed away, members were at the house before we got home with food and drinks and open arms. The same when my Dad passed.THANKS GUYS! Mose Story was a common fixture at my Grandmas for coffee and homemade pie as were many of the Volunteers. My Uncles served with them. They use to have one of the meanest baseball teams around, but they were more than team mates , they were friends. This is why I do what I can for the OCFPD when I'm asked, it's just carrying on a great family tradition. Again...a heartfelt THANK YOU to all and a special thanks to Gubby, Tommy and Mr. Baily, I know you had a lot to do with this, thanks for remembering my Mom & Pop, which btw Tommy really was named after! It means the world to me.
