The Fresno sheriff's office said on Sunday that one person died and three others were injured in two separate shootings in Orange Cove late Saturday night.

What's really sad is the young men in this town allowing themselves to be pimped by older men who deal drugs. In the end, the kid who gets shot receives a thank you for his life: a car wash. I'm sure all the mothers in Orange Cove who have lost sons due to gang involvement cherish the memories of their son's car wash.

Think about it kids, is that all your life is worth? A car wash and a grieving mother?

If this is so true conserned old man, tell me why is there shootings, murders in other citys such as Reedley, Dinuba, Fresno, Kingsburg. Where they have their own Police Depts.You need to realize these things happen even in towns that have the upper class citizens and all the protection.Its not just the poor any more.We have many people in the city of Orange Cove who have respect for the law.Don't judge us by mistakes made by certain people. No town is perfect!

Mr. Sunshine I can agree with you on this one. I think parents need to take control. So many parents don’t even care or know where their kids are. It all begins in the home. We can’t expect the city or the law enforcement to raise our children. It’s a shame that many of these gang bangers come from parents who them selves are into gangs. It’s a cycle that needs to be broken. Lots of these kids get caught for stealing and selling drugs. What happens they go in for one night and the next day their out again? Some justice?

Wrong again Orange Cove Man, The start of a police department does not have to go on the ballat. The only time anything would have to go on the ballat is if there was a need to raise taxes, since there will be no raise on taxes there is no need to put anything on the ballat. On July 8th will be the start of a new police dept. The city manager should be getting the ok from the council to hire a police chief and that will take 60 to 90 days.

An Orange Cove teenager was identified Monday as the person killed in a pair of shootings Saturday in the rural Fresno County city that left three others injured.

Daniel Gonzalez, 15, was shot and killed about 11:30 p.m.; two people were injured in that incident. A short time later and a few blocks away, another person was shot.

The shootings are under investigation.

First of all learn how to spell... "innocent people!" And don't try to blame the police for gang members killing eachother!!!

It would be wonderful if parents were aloud to raise their children the way that they were raised. Today's parents are so afraid of "hitting" their children to properly disipline them. Cops are called for "child abuse". Child Protective Services ( CPS ) are called in to sit in judgement and tell the parents "how" to properly disipline the kids. You can "swat" them on their rear ends with your hand. No place else. If you have a child that is so out of control, and totally disrespectful, do they REALLY think that "swatting" on the rear is REALLY going to have any impact at all? First and foremost, these children now a days DO NOT have the fear of GOD in them. Not an ounce! Get the leather strap, take them over your knee and blister their butts. Put a really good bar of soap down their throats for disrespecting. Back hand them for mouthing off. And make sure that the fear of GOD is totally and completely instilled in their little minds. It happened to all of us some time in our youth. We are all still alive and doing just fine.

A stance needs to be taken towards the gangs. They have come in and have over taken the town. Every weekend is riddled with gunfire, fights, robberies, drugs. What else needs to happen for the citizens, Mayor, and council members to open their eyes and make a change?
Think about it. The only one that can make a difference in your community is you. No one is going to do it for you. It is never to late to start.

The current City Council has and is listening to the COMMUNITY ... and they are making changes.

Attend and participate in the public discussion that will be part of the City Council meeting on July 8 @ 7:30 p.m. when the formation of the Orange Cove Police Department will be on the Agenda.
