I and a few million other patriotic Americans received this note from President Barack Obama; ----- Original Message ----- From: President Barack Obama To: eldon thompson Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 7:59 PM Subject: Not the first, but the last eldon -- I just finished laying out my plan for health reform at a joint session of Congress. Now, I'm writing directly to you because what happens next is critical -- and I need your help. Change this big will not happen because I ask for it. It can only come when the nation demands it. Congress knows where I stand. Now they need to hear from you. Add your voice: Ask your representatives to support my plan for real health reform in 2009. (http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hcsign... ) [[ I'm sure that Devin Nunes who tells me I'm a communist will "see the light" -- yeah, right ]] The heart of my plan is simple: bring stability and security to Americans who already have health insurance, guarantee affordable coverage for those who don't, and rein in the cost of health care. Tonight, I offered a specific plan for how to make it happen. I incorporated the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans to create a plan that's bold, practical, and represents the broad consensus of the American people. We've come closer to real health reform in the last few months than we have in the last 60 years. But those who profit from the status quo -- and those who put partisan advantage above all else -- will fight us every inch of the way. We do not seek that fight, but we will not shrink from it. The stakes are too high to let scare tactics cloud the debate, or to allow partisan bickering to block the path. Your voice, right now, is essential. See my full plan and call on your representatives to support it: http://my.barackobama.com/SupportReform Ours is not the first generation to understand the dire need for health reform. And I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last. Thank you, President Barack Obama ~~!~~ |

1 1. Where in the U.S. Constitution does the federal government have the authority to seize 1/6 of the private sector economy? 2. With medi-care fraud estimated by gov't figures to be arount 20%, why would placing the entire health system under the same people be a better idea? 3. With the government making your health decisions for you, what happens if you want a second opinion? 4. Social security has been bailed out time and again since the 1970's. Medicare has been bailed out because the costs were far greater than estimated. When, not if, the obamacare system runs out of money, where does the money come from to bail it out? How many "services" will be cut? 5. When health workers are forced to unionize, will their union become another political arm of the democrat party? 6. With profit removed, what will be the incentive to come up with treatments for chronic illness, and where does the money come from for that? 7. Under the QALY system favored by the Obama administration, which places highest priority on people between 15 years and 40 years old, when medical procedures are not available for the elderly, what country can they go to for private pay treatment, and will they be given permission to leave the country for it? 8. Trial lawyers- will there be tort reform to limit lawsuits against health providers (which if that were to happen today under the current system, health costs would drop dramatically) or will trial lawyers be given a free pass? 9. When medicare was passed, the estimates given were exceeded by almost 8x the original estimate. When obamacare exceeds the estimates, will illegal immigrants be cut from the service, or will it be just the elderly and ill children? 10. What recourse do we have as a nation once this system fails (like England & France) to hold accountable the people who forced this upon us? Can we put Obama, the czars, the democrats and republicans on trial for exceeding their constitutional office and wrecking the finest health care system in the world, along with our economy? 11. Who is Ezekiel Emmanuel, what are his views? 12. Who is Cass Sunstein, what are his views? 13. Who is John Holdren, what are his views? 14. What role do these people play in shaping the future of a national health care system? |

1 ~~!~~ Here is your invitation ... excerpt from the President's speech; "Now, this is the plan I'm proposing. It's a plan that incorporates ideas from many of the people in this room tonight -- Democrats and Republicans. And I will continue to seek common ground in the weeks ahead. If you come to me with a serious set of proposals, I will be there to listen. My door is always open. But know this: I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it's better politics to kill this plan than to improve it.(Applause.) I won't stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are. If you misrepresent what's in this plan, we will call you out.(Applause.) And I will not -- and I will not accept the status quo as a solution. Not this time. Not now." ~~!~~ |

~~ NEWZ UPDATE - CNN Poll Results ~~
Obama wins with speech-watchers, poll says updated 8:33 a.m. EDT, Thu September 10, 2009 Story Highlights [] 67 percent of those polled support health care reforms outlined in speech [] 1 in 7 who watched the speech change their minds on Obama's plan [] Bill Clinton's poll numbers were similar after '93 health care speech [] Percent of Democrats polled larger than percent in population as a whole WASHINGTON (CNN)-- Two out of three Americans who watched President Obama's health care reform speech Wednesday night favor his health care plans, a 14-point gain among speech-watchers, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. national poll. Sixty-seven percent of people questioned in the survey said they support the health care reform proposals Obama outlined in his address to a joint session of Congress. Twenty-nine percent opposed the proposals. Those figures are almost identical to a poll conducted immediately after Bill Clinton's health care speech before Congress in September 1993. The audience for the speech appears to be more Democratic than the U.S. population as a whole. Because of this, the results may favor Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tuned into the speech. The poll surveyed the opinions of people who watched Wednesday night's speech, and does not reflect the views of all Americans. iReport.com : What's your reaction to Obama's speech? Gosh, if only I were a lemming, I'd think it was wonderful.
Government involvement in health care is the problem, not the solution. 3 points for Obama to make health care cheaper in the USA. 1. Drop the federal mandate that all emergency rooms must provide services for people who are a) not an emergency b) not a US citizen the emergency rooms are filled with people who have minor cuts, bumps, the flu or a head cold, and most of these folks do not pay for their services. If it is billed to medical, or SSI, the reimbursement rate for such services is around 60%. The balance is made up in charging higher fees for services to private insurance companies, who pass the cost onto the consumer. Who created this problem? Government. What's the answer? less government intrusion into the private sector. If emergency rooms could turn away "non-emergency" cases, the savings would be in the hundreds of $Billions. 2. Reduce medicare to what it was supposed to be in the first place, a "supplemental" program, not the sole provider of health coverage. By reducing medicare back to it's roots, and raising the reimbursement rate to 100% for care providers, the savings would be in the hundreds of $Billions over just a few years. The problem of medicare being too large to manage has resulted in fraud being at about 20%, which in the FY budget of 2009,$413Billion is estimated for medicare, 20% fraud equals 82.6 $Billion wasted on unchecked fraud. Who created the problem? Government: specifically democrat controlled congress. Medicare program is too large, no watchdogs, and rife with rampant fraud. What's the answer? Reduce medicare to it's roots, weed out the corruption and fraud, and allow the private sector to recoup expenses incurred by a bloated government system. 3. Tort reform. The typical doctor's practice pays $200,000 per year for malpractice insurance, due to laws written by trial lawyers and passed by democrats that allow doctors to be sued for even the simplest mistake. Restricting frivolous lawsuits, making the loser pay the court costs, reducing awards for "pain and suffering" and other issues not related to the true compensatory needs of the person who may be legitimately harmed, would drop the "legal" costs of practicing medicine, and drop the over all cost of healthcare. Who created the problem? Government: legislators (many trial lawyers in congress, especially on the democrat side, including former presidential candidate John Edwards) crafting legislation to facilitate lawsuits and huge awards. All these costs are passed onto the consumer. What's the answer? True tort reform. There is alot more that can be proposed, and has been, to reform the system. These proposals have been made and shot down repeatedly by the democrats, who have created the problem in order to be the ones to provide the solution; i.e., the dissolution of your freedom. Seizing the private sector health care system would only be a greater problem rife with fraud, abuse, and a total loss of freedom. I guarantee you Obama has heard and rejected these very things, as it does not fit in with his agenda of "Change" i.e., socialism. |

Angry shout thrusts illegal immigrants into debate ShareThis Bobby Caina Calvan .. bcalvan@sacbee.com Friday, Sep. 11, 2009 - 9:39 am On national television, President Barack Obama contended this week that his plan to overhaul the country's health care system wouldn't spend a single federal dime on undocumented immigrants. As he spoke, a Republican congressman called the president a liar - once again bringing the incendiary issue of illegal immigration to the forefront of the national debate on health care. While some say undocumented immigrants are scapegoats in an already heated debate, others say they are part of a bigger problem about how to handle a national health care crisis to control medical costs. Friday, September 11, 2009 Get it done on health care Obama's detailed call to action should get Congress to link arms. President Barack Obama finally laid out the details of his vision for health-care reform Wednesday night, and now it's time for Congress to put together a package that improves the system and slows the skyrocketing cost of health care. It can be done if Democrats and Republicans are willing to put aside their differences and work together on a plan that's good for all Americans. Health care should never have become such a divisive issue, but the contentious nature of today's politics has made it a target for the extremes on the left and the right. Fortunately, the vast majority of Americans support a reasonable reform plan. But it won't be easy getting it through Congress, and Obama must be willing to take on those who defend the status quo. The president said his plan -- costing $900 billion over 10 years -- would not increase the deficit, and we will hold him to his word. The nation's economy is reeling, and it won't be helped by putting health-care reform on the federal credit card. He told Congress that there must be a provision that requires spending cuts to keep reform revenue-neutral. Obama said he would support a trial run on tort reform and would be flexible on a public option for coverage. His plan also would prevent insurance companies from denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions, limit out-of-pocket expenses, require insurers to cover routine checkups and ban insurers from dropping or watering down coverage during an illness. There are 47 million Americans without health insurance, and a reform package must find a way to cover them. We agree with Obama on the need to cover people with pre-existing conditions at a fair price. We also support reasonable tort reform and allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines. Group health plans must be portable to prevent the so-called "job lock" in which workers don't want to leave a job out of fear of losing health coverage. All this can be worked out. But Republicans must be willing to engage in negotiations instead of saying "No" to every plan put on the table. Democrats also must compromise with the GOP by finding ways to reach agreement on a bipartisan measure. Health-care reform shouldn't be a wedge issue to defeat incumbents in next year's midterm elections. We hope that politics won't trump good policy, but that's where health-care reform has been headed. The health-care system is broken, and it won't be fixed by ignoring its problems. Tell us what you think. Comment on this editorial by going to fresnobee.com/opinion , then click on the editorial. http://www.fresnobee.com/opinion/story/163419... ~~!~~ |

Oh, Reality, how stuck you are on rhetoric and empty on substantive dialog. The points I made are not gop talking points, although republicans and independents (a few democrats over the years as well) have tried to get tort reform passed, tried to close loopholes that attract fraud, tried to limit the growth of medicare, only to be blocked by democrats who always accuse republicans of trying to end medicare and eliminate social security. Scare tactics, but it seems to work on someone like yourself. The problem of unlimited government growth has created the problems we face today, multiplied by illegals scamming the system. Heck, even here in CA we passed a state prop. to stop illegals from taking our resources (welfare, schools, health care, public housing/assistance) only to have a liberal appointed judge throw out the prop. as unconstitutional. Problem was, who's constitutional rights were being denied, the legal U.S. citizen, to whom all these things were available to, or the illegal, who, as a citizen of another country, does not have constitutional rights in this country, except in the eyes of democrats who register them to vote?. You say you have fought for your country. I believe that. How about a little more fight for your country? You need to stop playing partisan politics, and do some homework. I'm a republican, true enough, but have been sharply critical of the republican party when they step in it, which is often enough. You think me a lemming? O.K., but back it up with something substantive. |

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Ben Franklin
So you want to trade your freedom and your privacy for the peace of mind that you are "covered" by a gov't system that will not guarantee you medical services, will have access to your bank accounts, credit history, work records, social and political affiliations, etc.? You want a system of rationed health care, where the best doctors in the world will leave the country to practice where they are free to help whom they will, without gov't restrictions and limitations. Only the rich will get the best care. Other doctors in this country will retire early rather than become a state employee. You want a system that is free, yet, you will not be free to choose your doctor, nor to choose elective medical procedures, nor get a second opinion if a bureaucrat deems you ineligible for medical care. You want free health care, even though the bill says they will "determine your financial responsibility" at the time of service, and withdraw your money prior to said service. That's security? If you support Obama Care, this is what you are choosing. Again, from Ben, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." |

,<<<"Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance. Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold." The note was a follow-up to Ensign's questioning at the markup.">>> So let's get this straight: Obamacare is not free, as they determine your financial responsibility prior to service, and have direct access to your bank account. Obamacare offers no choices or options in medical treatment, as private pay services are made illegal. Obamacare may "cover" you, but there is no guarantee of medical services for you, as the older you are (those in most need of medical services) the less likely you are to get said services. Health care services will be rationed, and right now, the democrats in the senate are proposing a tax increase on medical equipment and diagnostics.(see below) Sept. 12 <<<"A trade group representing 225 Massachusetts medical device companies yesterday sent a letter to Senator John F. Kerry opposing a proposed tax on medical equipment and diagnostics being considered by the Senate Finance Committee as part of health care overhaul legislation. The group told the Massachusetts Democrat that such a tax “would have a significant and unfair impact on our companies, our employees in Massachusetts, and the research and development we conduct.’’ The letter said the proposal could translate into an income tax surcharge of between 10 and 30 percent for device companies. It was sent by the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council and cosigned by 49 medical equipment firms based in the state as well as two from New Hampshire and one from Rhode Island.">>> So with this proposed tax, what does that do for the cost of health care? decrease it? And if you do not sign up for Obamacare, and refuse to pay the FINE for not doing so, you go to JAIL? Eldon, is this the hope and change you voted for? There has got to come a point where you realize that something is going on here that is very, very wrong. Your children and grandchildren are going to be subjects of rather than citizens in the USA, if Obama and the democrats get what they want. Now you can try to belittle me and others, but until you are able to either prove me wrong, or wake up to the reality that our constitution is under attack from federal socialism, you have convinced no one. Besides, a fellow with your intelligence, name calling and belittling should be beneath you. Step back from political partisanship, and look at what's happening to your country. We really do need folks to step forward if this is going to be stopped. |
