It's just not Glenda, Esther, or Gilbert. It is everyone. Everyone has their own opinions about the Lopez family, as well as the Hill family. It is the people that post here that hate. There is never a happy median, or an adult enough to handle debate here. It is straight hatred. Family names are being slandered. People are being slandered and maliciously attacked for speaking what they feel is right. Whether they are right or not. It is an opinion. Some come with documented proof to back up what they are talking about. Some come to deny what is documented. That is where the hatred comes in. It has nothing to do with the individuals that are in office. They are the ones that WE voted in. WE wanted the change. WE have to give it a chance to work. It is NOT going to happen overnight. Some changes have taken place already. Some are going to take a lot longer than expected. There are some big issues at hand, and can only be handled one at a time. There is only ONE God. No need to come on here and make people out to be the AntiChrist. OR take HIS name in vain! What a shame.

My comment is directed to both sides, but so far all that I have read that is so negative is about 80% of the people in favor of Glenda, Esther, and Gilbert. You’re very right, people that have nothing better to do with their time than cause problems is exactly why Orange Cove is the way it is. How can we change this? We need both sides to show Orange Cove folks how to get along. I don’t think all this negative, slandering, is right No one should slander anyone’s family. I guess that’s what politics are all about. C'mon Mav, you've got this one figured for sure. Victor brings someone with him so that all the expense money he receives goes right into his pocket. The 2nd person with him uses their expense money to pay for the hotel, meals, etc. At the end of each trip, Victor has a little casino cash. The Fresno Bee story a few years ago covered this scam in pretty good detail.

You're very welcome. I am a neutral party, that is looking at this whole picture from the outside in, and what could possibly be done to better the town. As many people here do as well. I don't know how to stop all the hatred and slanderous, malicious remarks made on all families and individual persons. I can only say, lead by example. It only takes a small few to show what can really happen if there was more of a positive outlook on everything and coming together as ONE instead of being so divided. No one is perfect, but each person has the same agenda as the other. They want what's best for the town. Their theories may not be the same, but at least they want what is best. How to achieve that? I don't know. All I can say is, time. Give it time.

Outside, this is the problem: There are 2 sides, but not necessarily are both looking out for the best interests of the city. That is a very naive perspective. Understand, there are bad people in the world, and sometimes they become mayor, assemblyman, congressman, senator or president.

Nicely put, such folk are opportunists, who look for any way to gain an avantage for themselves. Look at Gov. Bloggo in Illinois, attempting to sell an appointment to the US Senate for cash under the table. People like this do exist, and in out little town, they have been running the place for nearly 3 decades.

Wow I just took a drive thru your community today as I am considering seeking the position of Chief of Police. I was impressed with the clean quaint atmosphere and really liked what I saw. Then while conducting some further research on your town I come across all this bickering and hurtfull trashing of not only each other but your community government as well. This is now laevng me questioning wheter it would be a wise choice for me to get involved in such a community as this. I thought the prospect of helping a community form it's own police services would be a good way for me to give back to a community my 25 years of law enforcement and management experince, and would enjoy watching the progress that we, as a partenership of the police department and the community could make a vast difference in the quality of life for the people who live, work and visit the community.

You really do have a nice community and should all pull together for the common good of everyone.

Applicant: before passing judgement on the town based on some of the poison posted here, you have to understand some of the history about the city, what it was like from it's founding up to the current day. I would suggest stopping into some of the established businesses in town, introducing yourself, and talk for awhile. You'll get a much better feeling for the community as a whole. The vile comments on this site are being slung by less than a handful of folks who go under different names on this site. It is their livelihood and existence that is threatened by your interest and opportunity to build a solid police dept. in this town. If you come in, do the job, they are out of business, simple as that. Good luck to you. By the way, some of the older businesses in town include AC Market, Orange Cove Hardware, DH Machine Shop, Cove Printing, Flower Basket (Florist), Sunny Cove Citrus (packing house), Orange Cove Sanger Citrus (packing house), Harding and Leggett Citrus (packing house) and perhaps the best stop, or one of them, would be McKinney Packing just east of the city. Such good advice you’re giving to someone who could be our future Police chief. You speak of all the poison written here on this forum, some of the poison which is written by you. To Orange Cove, there's a difference between stated fact and inuendo. There's a difference between parody and slander. If you read my postings, I like to illustrate absurdity with humor. Parody. I also write of things which I have both first hand knowledge and fact concerning Lopez and his ilk. The fact is, Victor Lopez does belong in prison for the things he has done to Orange Cove over the last 30 years. I could explain to you, if time were permissable, the many reasons why he has not been nailed. It is not for lack of evidence. Now you say the city needs to come together, but behind whom, and behind what agenda? Give that some thought.

Both of these incidents are being investigated by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
