Check to see if the dog was "truly" registered. 3 generations need to be listed. No one that I came across listed the Sportsman Kennels as registered with them! Look into it

I have 2 dogs from Sportsmans. One is a Puggle which is almost 2 yrs now.He is the healthiest, happiest Puggle ever. The other is an American Bulldog,he is 7 months and weighs in at around 90lbs!This dog is the picture of health. Not to mention temperment. If I had more room in my home for more dogs they would be bought from Sportsmans.Amy,who runs the kennel is the best, and sweetest. They are clean and dogs are not kept in small cages. We visited our dogs untill they were raedy to come home, and our questions were allways answered. And allowed to look at all of the property.THIS IS NOT A PUPPY MILL! anyone who knows anything about mills knows this is not.

We had to find a place to board our bullmastiff. The first time seem alright though they lost his collar that only fit him,the second time I left him there his blanket was left at the outside part of the run and got wet from the rain and they at Sportsmam let my dog lay for days on the wet blanket. When I came to pick him up they tried to make up for it by giving me a tiny chew bone.I was lucky to find a great place to board him after this THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE FEE.

Get a Mutt wrote: Can't people just get mutts at the pound? All this talk about havapoos, yorkies, maltese makes me think you people are nuts. I got my dog at the babylon animal shelter. they were about to gas him and I came in looking for a dog. They only keep them 9 days. There is no better feeling than seeing a town worker remove a gas mask from a little puppies face. That dog is so loyal, he knew what was about to happen. THANK YOU! I can't believe you are the first to say this here. Why in the world would somebody buy a dog? Poeple here are claiming they love the dogs...but they can't love a mixed breed? A dog is not an accessory! Worry more about the temperment than what it looks like and you will in turn get rewarded. Buying is just a waste of money - plus it perpetuates the business of puppy mills and unethical breeders.

I got a yellow lab in June 2009- dog is great- clean bill of health. Im curious to see proof of the people who had bad experiences with them- ANY animal you get no matter where you get it from can be sick or have something wrong with it- it doesnt necessarily mean that its from the place it came from. You should get your facts straight before you start bashing this place.

I purchased a Labrador Retriever from Sportsman's 3.5 yrs ago. My dog was diagnosed with severe bilateral hip dysplasia and had to have surgery for total hip replacement. This is a genetic problem and it is a disgrace to put dogs and their owners through this. This is a preventable problem with proper breeding. My dog had a litter mate there. Anyone else with a Labrador from Sportsman's with severe hip dysplasia?

It is a well known fact that Sportsman's Kennels sells puppies that come from puppy mills. It is true that a dog could suffer from illness----however, the likelihood that a dog will suffer from hereditary diseases, contagious diseases and others are MUCH higher than if the dog were bred by responsible breeders, who breed dogs to further the lines of the dogs they already have. Responsible and reputable breeders take care of their dogs/puppies, DO NOT breed their dams with every heat cycle and DO NOT breed them to exhaustion like puppy mills do. The problem is that most people have no idea where their dogs are coming from when they go to a pet store or commercial "kennel" selling a multitude of different breeds of dogs. A reputable and responsible breeder would NEVER allow their dogs/puppies to be sold in a commercial kennel or pet store. There is no reason for a puppy to cost $1,000+ either, unless it is a RARE breed of dog. If you do your homework, you'll find that puppies that come from GOOD and RESPONSIBLE breeders are far less than $1,000!! Just Google puppy mills and look at the deplorable conditions that the dogs are forced to live in--and this is where your sweet, cuddly, fluffy puppy came from!! A 3.5 year old Lab that is diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia, like Marianne's has been, is a GENETIC problem that is found in the lineage of a dog, and the parents of puppy mill puppies are not tested and/or certified for hip problems, neither are the puppies sold by the commercial kennels or stores, and the excessive inbreeding increases the chances that the puppies will have it---this is nothing more than IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDING!!! If you want a certain breed, then do your homework and research and find a breeder that is not in it to make money--they are breeding to get the next generation of their (often Champion) blood lines. When you see a breeder keeping one of the pups in the litter for their own, you know this breeder is reputable and responsible. If you aren't sure what you want, go to a shelter or a rescue society---there are TONS of different kinds of dogs there who need homes. They are forever grateful and make the most awesome pets!! Take it from me--I adopted a 5 year old Weimaraner from a local animal shelter, and he is the best dog I've ever had!! Do something good, save a dog's life---and don't but puppies that come from puppy mills, you're only allowing that despicable practice to continue.

I don't hear much about irresponsible breeding amongst human beings. Homes with 4 families and 19 kids breeding future landscapers and dishwashers or MS-13 members get far less attention than puppy mills.
