Isn't it perfectly legal to sell those items for smoking "tobacco"?

it is legal to sell alternate tobacco products, but these instruments were designed different from common pieces, with only one possible use, illegal substances.

I read an article in a newspaper written by Chris Endress and his opinions regarding the legalization of medical marijuana. He mentioned how marijuana is the most sought after drug in our nation. What he failed to mention is that his job depends on it remaining illegal. Funding for the "war on drugs" has gone down and many legislators know that it's a lost battle. There are many, many drug abusers in many different forms and the majority of the public would never know it... if it wasnt for law enforcement coming after them for nothing more than doing the drugs. I know a LOT of highly functioning, business owning, high members of society who partake and have never been arrested for anything at all. I also know of a Geneseo police officer, Officer Corey Disterhoff, who was in a bit of hot water because of cocaine, along with the former Henry county judge, Larry Vandersnick who were investigated by the state police. Funny how Disterhoff is still an officer in Geneseo, and Vandersnick, although he stepped down from his seat, is still an attorney. There's nothing on THEIR records and that was never made public. Go figure. Goes to show you that it's not what you know, but who you know. With that kind of hypocrisy, it's no wonder people hide what they do.

This is no surprize , there are many convienience stores in the area selling the same items . My question is why has it been allowed and why are they stopping with this place .

What's the big surprise? Why are the police always the last to know. These items, usually contained in what they call "party bags", are sold in every Indian-owned convenience store in the Quad Cities. Visit any Star or Gas America station (where no American has ever worked) and you will find this trash.

so theres the answer to why there are so many drunk drivers.
"Over the years more and more of this is showing up and it desensitizes our children to thinking this is normal and it's not. We're reeling it back in and take this stuff off the streets," says Endress

So every kid that goes to every gas station in a car and sees alcohol for sale is desenstized and later in life will drink and drive? that sounds kinda of stupid doesnt it? how many adults drink at home in front of thier kids? are we going to re-instate prohibition? I dont think so, the alcohol lobbiest will make sure of that.

And if the stuff is in a store it is not on the streets, and for your information glass pipes for crack and meth can be made at home so its not going to stop the people who have to use them from using them.

I'm so sick and tired of people bashing the police for busting people involved in anything to do with drugs and going back comparing drugs to alcohol. METH and CRACK DO NOT give you the same effect as a glass of wine people. Big difference, you can have a drink and be ok and relax, but you can't smoke a rock at the end of a hard day and be done. So different in comparison people. It's so annoying, it makes me wonder just how many people out there abuse drugs by the comments people make on here and other websites. It's DRUGS - Illegal Drugs that ruin people's lives. Yes, alcohol ruins people's lives to but come on, really, a lot of people drink and can handle it and don't go overboard. Crack and Meth are addicting and all you can think about is getting more, always. No social crack smoking, so smoking some meth with my steak, it's very different.

"Visit any Star or Gas America station (where no American has ever worked) and you will find this trash."

What's American? Being white or holding an American passport? Because a lot of these "Indian" people hold AMerican citizenship. If you're talking about white people, then mm..lots of non-US citizens are white living in the QC.

You're a bit uneducated to be commenting on here, don't you think?

If they really want to get rid of all the items then why don't they bust the companies that sells it rather than retailers! If police and parents are really concerend about the children in the society then it's a job of their parents to give them a good guide. What if their parents smoke infront of their kids? Wouldn't kids take it normally? I don't see how seeing this will effect children. So seeing all this, it is legal to sell those tobacco pipes. Everyone around sells these items. I don't know why they are making a big issue just for this convenient store only. Why didn't they go undercover to few stores and do the same thing? I bet they will find more and more of these stuff on other places. Why just bust one store? I don't think it is just a right way to teach a lesson to others who sells it. And these are just tobacco pipes so common give me a break!

You Could find these kind of pipes in almost every convinence stores, in the mall and many more areas in and around quad cities too. and the bigger thing they still are selling, people are still using drugs and the companies are still making those products. As everybody knows these people are just retailers. There are alot of bigger companies and dealers who sells these pipes. Picking one victim and busting him doesnot solve the problem at all. If police is alert go catch the drug supplier rather than the common retailers. This is not the right way that administration doesnot care much more about drug trafficiking but instead bust their own citizens with the big fines.

YES!!!!!!!!!!Police are not doing the right thing with their own citizen who is good component of this nation! I would really like to say this infron of a police why are they doing this unnesaccry things. If they are really concerned about the community there are other things to worry about rather than this shit which will not do harm to others!

Check out the adult bookstore in Oakwood, IL.(I-74 @ exit 206) The place is LOADED with crack/meth pipes, bongs, scales, etc. You would not believe the number of "disguised" illegal drug items he sells.
Confused by our laws

Galva, IL

#19 Mar 29, 2010
I think it's just stupid how just about any place can sell pipes, one-hitter pipes, rolling papers and grinders and they're perfectly legal... until someone is caught with drug residue in/on them. But the same does not apply to the glass pipes this gas station was busted for. It seems that the laws are inconsistant at best, and honestly a complete waste of time in this instance. If these places do not sell these items, people will use whatever they can to smoke their drug of choice. What's next? Are we going to ban pop cans because it can be used to smoke weed from? Or how about milk jugs because they can be converted into a water bong? Next thing you know, toilet paper rolls will be banned because kids use them to mask the marijuana odor. How about the enforcement agencies go after where the drugs are coming from instead of the places that people buy items to use the drugs with. That would seem like a more efficient and reasonable use of funding.

yeah well the guy i just worked for is about to get f'd the same way if he doesnt stop arguing with me about my last check. lets just say he sells 'dope' pipes and i mean dope as in meth, like a glass dicks that arent in a box saying glass rose they are in a basket just chillin with no known purpose to just any average bear. so if he wants to keep messin with me he is gonna find himself gettin shut the f down bc there is no excuse for selling a glass dick without a purpose, cant smoke marijuana(or as they claim, tobacco) outta that buddy.
