I have a family member in ECC and believe me the guards are in no danger. Most of the imates there are jusst waiting to see when the early release will start which means you need to be on your best behavior. I'm sure it was tense for a while but it wasn't as bad as the reports.

All visitors that frequently visit their lo know that this is just hype so guards get more money, pensions, etc. This is just a ploy perfectly planned. Great media tool but visitors know different. There are a lot of atrosities and abuses that the guards use on the inmates in this pissing contest. Not all of the guards are bad...granted. But, STOP TRYING TO GET NEGATIVE MEDIA ATTENTION. They need to let a camera crew from one of the television station inside those fences...and expose it all. Let all of I'LL judge.

stop living off of the state...keep your sons and daughters out of prision...go get jobs and stop crying about how thier treated when obviously you know nothing about what an officer goes through behind the walls and fences

I made a tragic mistake and served five years at east Moline. EMCC has become quite crowded since I was released in 2011. I got along with most of the guards there. They have a good job, not one I would want. A lot of sitting time in the dorms. Don't know If I could handle it. I hated guard duty in the navy. As far as being dangerous. East Moline is where everyone want to be at. Get in troulble like fighting , your getting shipped out to a worse joint. So no one wants that's. Other than bad attitudes and making sure the count is right and looking for contraband, bogus ear buds ect. As far as being dangerous no way. They should go get a job at some joints with a wall and towers. AFSME or something like that is a very powerful union in Illinois and across the county. They have politicians in there hip pockets who support them and are indebt to them for votes. EMCC is propably one of safest joint around. Audit there safty record and find out for your self with the freedom of info act.

as far as telling people to get a job, I agree. But my expierance inside. They have a job, that keep them coming back. And keeps the Idoc employees gainfully employed. I remember when they where going to layoff guards in 09/ . I know that was not pleasant for them and a lot of anxiety for them. I really think there should a sliding pay scale for Idoc COs based on the facility they work at. Max makes more. Min. less.
