The pay to play public money billionaires don't like him, I'd say that's the best endorsement a law enforcement man could have. I'm sure they still mourn the loss of money munching Weiss, who never met a campaign dollar he would not dirty dance for.

I love his work, his style, his ethics, and his stance on running his office. I elected him because I wanted someone honest that wasn't part of the political regime. The problem with today's government is that it works on a political pay to playground that's defendable, but it doesn't make it right. Our officials have forgotten that little lesson when it comes to the people of the city. Trutanich brings back that philosophy and it hurts others because he won't bend. Yes it's true he's a hard one. I could get turned down by him for something that I wanted. I'd rather have respect than favors and he's the same. I personally believe he's not liked because he won't give in to the crap that goes on. People who don't play well rarely get recognized as team members. Well guess what? Our governmental system is supposed to be one of checks and balances. The mayor isn't supposed to be in line with the council, the controller, and the attorney. It's supposed to be a medium where one crosses and controls the other to protect the citizens. Take that away and you have a regime with a dictator and all the yes people. Remember that and look at other countries, like Venezuela and Chavez for instance. People think it won't happen here however, groundwork can be laid down to start a process. Then before you know it, you're in it.

I'm sorry I could not say something as dignified as you did. I wish I could have. My blind anger at some of these politicians such as Weiss, gets the best of me. Well done. Well said. |

Congratulations on letting the status quo, that the there's a new sheriff in town,City Attorney Carmen Trutanich in town. Also I hope he amends the Van Nuys injunction to cover at least one mile from the boundaries because its pushing those elements next door.'

Dude, you're the City Attorney, not the king of the city.
Setting up meetings with AEG and bringing along a couple of cops to "convince" AEG, a local business that employs Angelenos and contributes millions to the city's tax base, to pay for city costs that are within the city's day-to-day responsibilities and were largely due to poor judgement just does NOT look good. How about opening up your office's financial books to public audit as promised? And what the hell is the city's public pension fund have to do with you? Other than you're depending on drawing thousands from it some day. |
||||
|
Now if we could elect a Mayor who would do "his" job and appoint a police cheif who would reduce crime......
|
||||
Guess what? The public pension funds were depleted because of improper relationships between the funds managers and the ones who selected them. The managers should have been selected based on carefully monitored performance and not the bennies they gave out. This is clearly one of the most scandalous events in Los Angeles history and should not be swept under the rug. This is Madoff quality scamming from Hahn apointees. Judge Mooney was called in to help hide the trail. This is big time. These bandits are some of the richest people in the nation, became that way because of these depleted pensions, at our expense, and were not well intentioned. They should not be allowed to scurry away like cochroaches. Delgadillo has involvement and so might Gruel. That's why all the scrapping goes on to hide the records. |

What a huge fluff piece for Trutanich from his biggest fan Orlov.
I can't begin to state all the ways in which Orlov hands him a PR make-over on a silver platter by selecting "facts" that suit his PR purpose and scrapping or fudging those who don't, selecting WHO to "quote" like Dennis Hathaway with his billboards and other older conservative people who hate City Hall. It IS true that in a very small turn-out election like that was, where the people who DID vote were churned out by rightwing radio and were the ones who went to the polls to vote down taxes in disproportionate numbers both in the primary and General (Measure B and then all the State Props), the people who voted for him are a lot more narrow in their views and demographics than the majority which stayed home and didn't pay attention. But now the majority has woken up as have some who realize that voting for ANY CHANGE from the Mayor's team was a very bad idea. He's done such a bad job that his campaign manager John Shallman is now a liability for CD2 Candidate Chris Essel, since no one trusts anything he promises in the campaign. Just one example that's off in accurate reporting: the AEG Jackson matter, isn't just a case of wanting to get "back" 6 MIllion Trutanich alleges was spent (While the City Financial Officials WHOSE JOB IT IS to deal with this, say the figure is more like $1.5 Million), and which AEG has NO CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION to repay: to "demand" it and threatening to jail AEG's own lawyer and top executive ALONG WITH the City's head of Building & Safety, a City Councilwoman (after threatening to sue the whole planning Dept. over the same matter if they didn't "obey") s thuggery and extortion, using our taxpayer-paid cops as his "escorts," like some Mafia Don - people get arrested for behaving like that. If he really cared about creating jobs he wouldn't be threatening companies like this to grandstand to his rightwing political fans (whatever he claims out of the other side of his mouth, that IS what he is doing), just because they support the mayor and his opponent. By making Trutanich's incompetence sound like "fresh air," over-reaching and thuggish behavior way beyond the bounds of his job some sort of good thing, and choosing to ignore the vital fact that he's gone back on many campaign promises, Orlov is acting like his campaign manager Shallman. And by repeating flat-out campaign lies (Trutanich did NOT aggressively prosecute polluters, he aggressively defended them and all criminals for the last 25 years - his whole campaign designation was a lie), Orlov is abdicating his JOB as a "reporter" and turned this into an Editorial/ PR op for Trutanich, masquerading as a report. |

Any malfeasance must be prosecuted -- but using your labor union money and NOT taxpayer funds! My guess is that the hardship your fund is facing is due more to the greed of you government slugs than it is due to corrupt management. See, the public is fed up with handing our tax dollars over so that you government slugs can sit around for 20 years doing little to nothing, and then retire at 50 and continue to take our money doing nothing. |

Judging from the whining he is being effective instead of maintaining the status quo.
GO GET 'EM. |
||||
|
The howl of the jackals from City Hall, the local fishwrap, and the lone anti-Trutanich troll "Joe" with dozens of assumed names, were to be expected. Mr Trutancih, we respect everything you are doing, and you were not elected to join the corrupt gang in City Hall. History will show that eventually these corrupt and unethical people will be vanquished, and you will be remembered as the man who turned it around. Just ignore these political whores who have ruined this city, finacially, morally and illegally. The upright citizens are behind you, and will never allow you to be masterminded by these midgets.
Thank you Daily News for setting the record straight. |

Go get 'em, Mr. T. City Hall has been in bed with fat-cat developers and "important" businesses far too long. We finally have a City Attorney who is not part of the downtown gang, and he doesn't worry about whose toes he steps on. Don't know the man. Don't know anybody who does, or anybody who has had any interaction with him. Just a voter who thanks heaven that Mr. Developer (Weiss, who only cared about the big boys and couldn't be bothered with constituents in his district) was sent packing. Can you just imagine the smell from City Hall if Weiss had one. Too bad most of our city fathers care more for the fat cats like Leiweki and AEG and other developers than the taxpayers and citizens of our city.

"won," not "one."

Notice the sign on his bookcase, The Strong Do as they Will (meaning Want), the Weak Do as They Must
NO you arrogant man, you're supposed to follow the LAW not bully about like a Serbian thug anyway you WANT |
||||
Remember Weiss having a fundraising dinner for himself as City Attorney put on by a lawyer that sued the city a record hundred and fifty times. It was at this lawyer's personal home. I do. Weiss was your man. Sorry. We deserve better. You wanted something else. Alot of people got what they wanted from Weiss. Others wanted fair play and couldn't get it. Some were denied honest services and shouldn't have been. |

Trutanich is doing a FANTASTIC job!! He is just what the doctor ordered for Los Angeles! I hope he makes the City Council and worthless City Controler shake with fear. It's no secret some city officials abuse power! Trutanich will hunt them down and lock them up! Finally an elected official we can trust and respect. Thanks Mr. City Attorney!

The guy that labeled him a bully owes the city $6M and the press responds. The article mentioned low voter turnout, it forgot to mention he got a higher percentage of votes than the Mayor.
He is an outsider, the council and the mayor love to see Trutanich criticized because he threatens their power base. I hope he decides to run for Mayor and really clean-up what is fast becoming the most corrupt city in America. |
