It may be that a politically motivated individual went after him, but...

From the link provided by Berkman (above):

... Costa did not deny, however, that a police investigation into accusations of falsification of School Committee meeting minutes and endangerment of a child were part of discussions leading up to his departure.

The investigation, conducted by Police Sgt. Patrick Manley, revolves around a complaint filed in September in Palmer District Court by Joseph Cabrera Jr., a father and former candidate for School Committee.

Cabrera said his son was endangered when he was asked to walk home from school instead of being placed on an afternoon bus in May.

In 2008, Cabrera had been the subject of a no-trespassing order for threatening the school principal at Mountain View Elementary School.

Regarding the May incident, Costa has stated he believed the child was not eligible for afternoon busing. He said there was miscommunication between Cabrera and school attorney Peter Smith about transportation arrangements for the child.

In his report, Manley accused the superintendent of changing School Committee minutes to coincide with a conversation he had with Manley. In that conversation, Manley wrote, Costa stated the committee said Cabrera must communicate with the school’s attorney whenever he wanted to make arrangements for his children.

“What Mr. Costa did was change the minutes of the meeting sometime after he learned that our conversation of May 20 was on tape to conform to the series of lies he had told me in the taped conversation,” Manley stated in his report.

I am sure Mr. Carberry knows the "real" story and will be using that to make sure his new Superintendent stays in line and follows his every command.

It is hard to believe that there was no one qualified from Berkshire County.

So we now have a CROOK, with NO TEACHING EXPERIENCE, as Superintendent.

How much would you have upped his offer if he had a clean record and actually had some teaching experience???

Nice work Mr. Carberry!!!

Yep his first duty as Superintendent will be to show the kids how to lie and then how to unwind the lies you told when someone shows up with the video tapes. Of course if you have the tapes and Superintendent threatens your kingdom, you are still the Chairman/king of the district. He should have just named himself the Superintendent and then the reality of it all would be plain and obvious to all those who don't know how things really operate and the kingdom he has built.

He was completely upfront at the public interview held last Sunday in the Morris School library. This is not a surprise or a secret.

He left East Longmeadow over some sketchy circumstances... Inappropriate use of $$$ and child endangerment? Check out masslive.com and search him... http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/1...

Hasn't been there since November so nice spin on seeing if you could get him to come early to Lenox!

How did he explain the police report that said he told a pattern of lies and forged records to try to cover it up?

Good to know. Did anyone talk to the other district that let him go to get the other side of the story?

Do you realize what Dr. Costa has done to residents of East Longmeadow? Do you really think that he should be the superintendent of this, or any other, school system? Think about it! Check out all of the posts on www.masslive.com/forums/eastlongmeadow . Talk to the School Committee members there. Talk to the parents. Get more information before you make decisions that you will regret!

Cabrera is not the only parent who Costa tried to deal with in such a harsh manner...Cabrera just happened to be able to overcome the obstacles that they put in the way when it comes to removing a school superintendent. There have been many others...

Mr. Carberry is playing with fire.

Um just so you know, Jay Carberry is a republican. I'm not sure about the political opinions of the others.
