I hope he enjoys his retirement and we all should thank him for a job well done. I firmly believe that life with no parole or the death penalty should be given to anyone convicted of selling large quantities of crack or heroin.

Thank you for your service detective. Although, the "war on drugs"
will never be won you have won lots of small battles that have made living in the berkshires better and I hope those that follow will keep
it up.

Yes I agree With "joke" there should be harsh penalties for drunk drivers and anyone who abuses a woman or child as well. I also think "good man's" comment is a little over the top.

I knew it wouldn't take long for some drug soaked riff raff to start up on this one.Look punk drugs are illegal plain and simple and I suppose scum like you want this garbage lifestyle for your daughter? I can picture you now. A twenty something loser with kids but no wife, covered with stupid tattoos and you ball cap on backwards. Sell drugs to my kid and you will end up being the one that call the cops when I am done with you.

Over the top? Of what? Knock off the major dealers and you make a large dent in the drug trade just as going after the boss has put the maffia down.

I think it's cute that you think we've snuffed out the mafia and organized crime. By over the top I just f
don't think they deserve death. Yes they deserve to be punished but people deserve a second chance. Not a third, a fourth or a fifth but some people deserve a second chance. Nice response to "joke" btw real classy.

I hope your retirement is long and enjoyable, Lt. Joseph McDyer! You deserve it!

Wherever your future endeavors take you, the Berkshire County narcotics interdiction's command shall miss your professionalism and high ethical standards. You've made up proud.

Good luck, sir!

actually i am 27 your not far off no kids i have a job i pay taxes i own a house hmmm something thats taken you probly 30 years to accomplish i did in few years not when i was 40 like you seeing that your from old school the way you talk.and as long as your cops allow people to do drugs because with out addicts you wouldn't have drug dealers. am i wrong? i don't read in the paper addict sent to jail no you read dealer gets 3-5 or something along them lines why because they gave up there dealer well one of them so they don't get in trouble or go to jail but that makes it ok? you really need to look at the streets lil more like a bar fight breaks out they send every cop there is but now that every cop is there some old lady across town could be getting beat and not one cop will make it there no they are dealing with a bunch dumb drunks. is that right? so you can see my concern here we shouldn't have double standards in are laws. its ok for these old man that get popped for 4 or 5th time driving drunk and they don't go to jail thats odd but ok? i see what your all about everything else is ok except drugs

you know it just that easy to do you obviously didnt read the story should read it again because mcdyer been cop for almost 30 years and hes put away a couple king pins in his time um so you put 1 major drug dealer away every 5-6 years obviously its a lil harder to do or he have a list of king pins he put away. but you make it out to be real easy good man maybe we should tell lt. foley you can do a better job or mcdyer he was wrong man for the job good men can lock everyone up fast and to the point

My what a swelled head this cop has, I seriously doubt that anyone would want to get their hands on you. The majority doesn't give a sh** if you retire or not, good riddance to you. Reagan was an idiot and so are you.

You're the idiot smearko as if smelko isn't a good enough insult for a name. Incase you're living in a fantasy world what these officers do is a very dangerous for them and their families. These drug dealers are dangerous sociopath killers who often rule with an iron hand. Getting them off the street is a great service to any comunity. Now if we can have better drug intervention, treatment programs and education for our youth we'll be better off.

There are lots more little fish in jail than major dealers! And at $50K a person, we are spending a bloody fortune to keep them there.

The drug problem in this country has only gotten worse since starting down this road. It's the modern day version of prohibition....which didn't work either. Time to try a new approach.

Amen to that. Mass. spends more on jails/prisons now than higher education. Something is very wrong!
