I have had the pleasure to present to Larry this past year. Never would I have ever expected someone at his level to be so down to earth, and appreciative for a young fairly new engineer in the company. He asked me how I though "they" were doing. he asked for my feedback, gave me his, etc... GM, Ford, and Chrysler management could learn a lot from this man.

Larry is what a leader should be in every sense of the word. Honda has been manufacturing in Ohio for nearly 30 years (30 in September). Sooner or later Honda needs to promote an American to the position of president at Honda of AMERICA, Mfg., Inc. with the authority of a president in order to represent the actual North American situation globally. Honda's philosophy is to manufacture where they sell. They should also empower the citizens where they produce to also become leaders at the highest levels of the organization equal to those in Japan as well based on measurable criteria. It can be done as Toyota has already accomplished this. Larry was the best candidate and hope for Honda to achieve an American president anytime soon. Larry will be missed, but Honda's loss will eventually be someone else's, or some other endeavor's gain.
