Wow, Honda and Toyota took the top five plant spots in North America based on having the lowest defects in the first 90 days. Congrats to all their workers!

That is why I am a Honda owner. The new American made car. It is built here in Ohio by my fellow Ohioans. They have also never been bailed out of bankruptcy.

After many years of driving Ford vehicles (2 Taurus's, 2 Explorers, 3 Mercury Grand Marquis, I switched to a Honda Pilot and love it! Kudos to Honda and Toyota. I guess the UAW and Government Motors are really thrilled with the J. D. Powers report.

"The now-discontinued Element was the only crossover that finished ahead of another local product, the CR-V."

So let me get this straight, they canceled the vehicle with the HIGHER rating??

Built by Americans with American work ethic... But WITHOUT UAW thugs encouraging dissension, and making obnoxious demands

It would appear Americans can in fact compete if protected from the unions

DITTO! I too am now a life-long Honda buyer. Plus they retain their value better.

The Element was slated years ago, way before this report came out. It IS a great vehicle, but the sales were the lowest of the entire Honda line. Of it's class, it has many fans, but again, it's niche market was very small. It ran for many years longer than many of the builders thought it would! Cheers, Element!

Slated to discontinue after the 2011 model years ago, I meant to say. I'm sure there are great things in the works for East Liberty and Marysville.

Well ... Honda definitely needs to get its mojo back. Design is mostly awful and handling isn't as fun as the great models from the 1980's.

Nevertheless, they are still fantastic pieces of engineering. A 4-cyl Accord only weighs 3,200 pounds. To give you some perspective, a Ford Ranger V-6 weighs approx. 3600 pounds and a Buick Lacrosse weighs over 4,000 pounds and a Buick Regal is about 3,600 pounds.

.
They're actually going in the opposite direction in order to compete with the Korean car makers. For example, if you've noticed, they've been gradually taking out independent rear suspension in many lower-end models because people don't appear to be willing to pay a premium for it.
