To impare the morals of a minor, shouldn't the minor first have morals?

1 The only people who have looked at all of the evidence and “facts” of the case are the prosecutor, Crescenzi’s attorney, and the judge. Funny how the people who know the case intimately found your buddy’s actions to be disgusting and illegal. So much so that they felt a lengthy prison sentence was in order. One that will keep society safe from your pal, a predator of young children. |

1 Fact #1 The minor did misrepresent her age. Fact #2 Due to the lack of evidence, a plea bargain was offered. Fact #3 The prison sentence issued was for 3 years that may be suspended. Nowhere near the 8 years before mentioned. The courts hands were tied due to zero tolerance policies in the state. Fact #4 Let this be a lesson. Men need to be aware that when they are chatting online they do not know who may be on the other side and what you may consider a conversation between two adults may not be so. Caution needs to be taken. Fact#5 The minor in the case was involved with a registered sex offender in her town and no one prosecuted him. Fact #6 Many lives have been ruined due to this. |

1 This, of course, does not admonish the actions of the accuser. Her portrayal of an adult in an adult setting speaks to a larger problem in her life. But, unlike you Big Brother, I will not comment on that because I don't know specifically what the accuser suffers from. What I find funny about this case is that during the sentencing only half of the conversations were read. At no time were her lewd comments presented to the judge. I understand that SHE was not on trial, but if we still believe in justice in this country, and we believe that everyone deserves an equal/fair chance to clear their name, shouldn't everything have come out? Dee makes a wonderful point (many actually) too. The accuser maintained another online adult relationship with, what I assume was, an unknowing man. The court should monitor the actions of this impersonator over the next few years so no other innocent men get duped by her masquerade. Were you there for the sentencing Big Brother? Do you know anything about this case outside of what you've read? Or, do you sit in New York scanning newspapers for emotionally charged cases just to throw a monkey wrench in the mix, and maybe have someone to converse with? I feel for you my lonely "friend."

1 Another issue that presents itself comes in the form of simple economics. Gene could barely afford to pay his legal bills to this point. How do you suppose he would have been able to afford a long and drawn out trial? He couldn't. If his other option was to be represented by a public defender, then I'm afraid the outcome could have been worse. Gene struggled mightily on his plea decision. You will notice that he did not admit guilt, nor should he have. He simply did not have a better option than to plead "no contest." Another sad commentary. Whether or not Gene would like to see more details about the case come out now no longer matters. What's done is done. The accuser's family has the blood they sought. I, on the other hand, would love to see some more details of the case. I would like to see the WHOLE transcript. I would like to see just how innocent this online character the accuser created was. The father of the accuser had a lot to say about what Gene said in these discussions, but never once mentioned the role the accuser played. In other commentaries, I've also seen the father of the accuser threaten to come out with the transcript so we could all see what kind of animal Gene was, but we all know he can't do that. Doing this would bring to light the hidden life of his darling accuser, and show WHAT gene thought he was chatting with. No father would do this. His threats are as hollow as his conscience.

1 It's got to be hard to watch your friend go to prison. At least you admit you do not know the details of the case. But it's clear you don't. Before you defend him yet again, why don't you go down and talk to the prosecutor privately? He'll talk to you if you really want the truth. Crescenzi, 33, had to tell his friends that he thought the girl was 18 even though he knew she was 13. He had to tell his friends that he found her in an "adult chat room" even though is was not. He had to lie because if his friends found out the truth, they could not continue to support him. Now, his friends and family don't want to face what is painfully clear. What is clear is that Crescenzi is a pedophile and a predator. It's clear to the State and the Court... No question! Facing that fact means family and friends might have to look in a mirror and that's probably too difficult. Crescenzi knew he'd lose those who would defend him when the evidence came out in trial. He also knew the evidence would put him in jail for up to 15 years. He took the deal because he had to. Now the evidence is sealed away right where he needs it. Stop blaming the girl. She's a victim and you're continuing to victimize her. Next you'll be arguing that the child in the video Crescenzi purchased and enjoyed watching being raped must have asked for it. |

When I look in the mirror I like what I see. My conscience is clear, which, I suppose, is part of the reason I don't mind attaching my name to my comments.
What is clear, Trial, is that this girl (or victim if you prefer) maintained a hidden life from her aloof parents for better than 5 months. You don't see a problem there? What is also clear is that these adult conversations were reciprocated by both parties. Like many of our youth, this child was in a rush to grow up and sadly her misrepresentation has led to a prison sentence. Are you aware that she still has a Myspace profile that lists her as 36? As for your knowledge of Gene's friends and family, I think you need to be brought up to speed. We will continue to support him. We do not shy away from adversity. We know he is not the animal that people like you are making him out to be. So please stop trying to speek for others. You simply haven't a clue. If you would like to talk about the "deal" please refer to Dee's comment. Do you know the prosecutor personally? Does he really have the time to talk to people about past cases? If so I'd be happy to talk with him, and I will no longer question why our court system is always so delayed. I will defend Gene as long as you people continue to malign him. It is up to you how long that will be. Finally, you're last statement is one of the more ridiculous I have ever read. I would appreciate it if you would not cast your own tendencies onto others. Especially in this case, I think your namecalling and unfounded perceptions are quite enough. |

Another brilliant comment DBC. I'm glad I could make you laugh. I'm sure you do the same for many.

1 You know nothing about this case even though you pretend to know something. You act as if you know the evidence, but you know nothing of the evidence. If you did, and you were a decent human being, than you would know that Gene is exactly where he belongs. Maybe you really know what your pal did and you believe what he has done is acceptable. Maybe you participated…. If so, you can share a cell with him. Since you enjoying talking trash as mush as you do, when you get out, would you please share with the readers here how you both found prison life? You can share with us if Gene enjoys being preyed upon, the same way that if Gene had his way would have preyed upon the victim, the same way that we all know Gene will be preyed upon in prison. An eye for an eye baby! Good riddance Gene Crescenzi! |

Welcome back Big Brother.
I know plenty about this case. While you are not quite as articulate as "Trial," you seem to share the same passion, and I can respect that. You have every right to say or feel whatever you want. Where you are losing me, though, is when you start sounding like the half-wit, DBC. These comments represent the bulk of my chatting history. If you wish to maintain any semblance of credibility I would suggest avoiding the brainless notions offered by DB. That's just silly. It would be like me saying you and this girl devised a plan together to entrap a gullible man...just for the fun of it. And, I will not do that. In the off chance that you are the same person as Trial I will chalk your ludicrous comments up to the time of day that you submitted them. Perhaps you were sleepy and didn't quite have it in you. Either way, you seem very angry and may want to consider talking with someone.
