Why are people so snotty & rude in E. Hartford now?

I was just wondering. Why are people so darn inconsiderate, rude, and snotty in the town of East Hartford now?
We live in a rather nice neighborhood, but we had some old lady threatening to put dog poop on our front step after we were walking our pet down the street, b/c she falsely claimed we left dog poop on her front lawn!
Now we never left ANY dog poop on her lawn. Our dog went to the bathroom on a lawn a few doors down from her, but we picked that up immediately.
Also to leave dog poop on someone's front steps is a dangerous thing to do! You could easily step out on the front step and slip and fall and break your neck! Or even just be visiting and not see the dog poop laying there, left by a nasty neighor, and fall down and get hurt too!
Lady, you got a lot of nerve to threaten to do such a thing! Not that you are a lady.
Also, about a week ago, there was a person on our street who thought it was okay to start doing noisy yardwork with two handymen at only 7 am in the morning!
It was so loud, it sounded like someone was working on our place, not theirs. Naturally being only 7 am it woke us up.
When we got up an hour or so later, we saw they had parked their big truck in front of our place, and left ALL their yard tools all over our front strip! Now, there was no cars whatsoever in front of the neighbor's yard who hired them, so why didn't she just let her handymen park in front of HER yard, not ours?
Then when they finally left, the exhaust fumes from their big late model Dodge Ram truck was so heavy and thick someone could have literally choked to death from their exhaust!
Wow! East Hartford has become such a dangerous and rude place to live! What's up with that?
Do the recent transplants, or even the longer time residents have no respect for anyone besides theirselves now?
Now, there were some bad eggs here and there in East Hartford, but it never used to be THIS bad!
If you see a late model Dodge Ram truck with horrible exhaust fumes pouring out of it, be sure to report it. That truck could kill someone, its exhaust fumes were so thick!

I work in one of the East Hartford elementary schools and you should meet some of the parents. Rude, pushy, obnoxious, demanding and a strong sense of entitlement. Some of these parents come into the school with a chip on their shoulder and spewing foul language. Most of their kids are just as bad!
One woman stormed into my room wearing stiletto heals and draped in tight gold lame, jewelry clanging and dangling all over her, and reeking of perfume. She slammed this giant handbag onto a desk and immediately demanded my attention. When I tried to talk to her she immediately cut me off and then talked over me every time I tried to get a word in. She was ranting about something someone else did and I couldn't get to the bottom of her complaint so I suggested she should see the principal. She snatched up her bag and loudly proclaimed "I ain't gonna change who I am for nobody!" and then stormed away. At the office they had to call the police because she was shouting at people and using foul language. Unfortunately that is a common scene in my school.

Yes, I cannot believe the level of hostility and total "attitude" so many in this town are portraying these days.
Is everyone trying to be a Drama Queen here? They're certainly doing well at that! My word.. this used to be a rather laid back, rural type town. Lots of farms, farmers, fisherman, working folks..
My guess is since they brought into all the Section 8 people into E. Hartford, and folks on welfare, they now they think they got the right to whatever they demand! Let THEM go find jobs....
Where are all the friendly, hospitable, decent acting folks now? Have they just left the town or the state completely?
you know what I don't see in Connecticut are many out of state license plates. It's like no one wants to come visit our state anymore. Given this kind of behavior, I can well see why.
You take care So True. Thanks for politely answering my post too. Glastonbury's still a nice town though. Let's hope your town isn't destroyed by these malicious folks also..
I see Manchester almost the exact same way, sadly enough.

I agree with you and see exactly what you are seeing. Unfortunately, Glastonbury is starting to show signs of going the same way.

Glastonbury's getting snotty, rude people also? Oh, I'm sad to hear that.
Well, count your blessings though. I doubt they'll ever let all the section 8 folks into your town, they way they have with Manchester or E. Hartford. They have in effect just plain ruined our town.
People have literally told me they're afraid to stop at certain well established businesses & restaurants in our town b/c they're afraid of the type of people hanging outside it.
What I don't understand is, E. Hartford happens to be one of the most taxed towns in the state. If they've turned the place into a virtual slum, they WHY do they think they have the right to force property owners &businesses in the town to pay massive taxes for this place now?
It's not like this place is Beverly Hills, or anything. It certainly not a highly sought after place to live OR do business, given the high taxes and scary people who live here now.
Remember that guy who murdered like 8 of his co-workers in Manchester, was that last year?
They just had a murder on a nice road in Manchester last month too. They didn't bother to put up a poster of him around town for nearly a week.
Meanwhile then the same guy who murdered the clerk in Manchester last month, a week later, went and murdered someone else in Hartford!

Ah CT, truly a state filled with only one kid of nut....the criminally insane. Nutmeg state indeed.

You got that right Stranger. There are more weirdos in this area than you could shake a stick at! The weird thing about is, they all want to be portrayed as kind, sincere and decent people. What a crock!
And the present Mayor of East Hartford, Ms LeClerc wants to portray East Hartford as a "safe" town. Oh, please, stop drinking the koolaid and wake up and smell the coffee Ms. LeClerc! Just whom do you think you're fooling anyway Ms. LeClerc? This town stopped being a safe town a few years ago. It's rapidly going down the tubes. You got really negligent, hostile police officers too, in East Hartford who won't do a darn thing for you, if you need help too.
That adds up to a seriously dangerous place to live! Stay out of East Hartford, it's not worth your time or your life to come to such a place.
Starting to think this town is resembling New Haven. Gosh, 22 murders in only a 7 month period! Ugh.
they ought to re-name Connecticut the Unconstitutional State imho.
What really weird is the place is SO expensive! Why pay to live or visit such a unsafe place??? Is the Mafia running this place? Sure seems like it....

I graduated fomr EHHS in 87 left in 88. I'm so glad I left, I'm living just outside of Nashville now and it's wonderfull here. E. Hartford was a nice place, I'm not sure I'll ever return even to visit if it's gone that bad.

well, it used to be a pretty area, not too costly to live in CT, but that's all ancient history now.
You know, really, many people in central CT are NOT too friendly at all anymore! Maybe ppl near the shore or out in the country are nicer, but around Hartford, forget it! too many hostile, completely inconsiderate folks roaming about!
So so expensive too! Gas is the highest in the nation, food is outrageously priced.. home taxes... what are they charging ppl for? This place isn't that great!
How are the folks up near Nashville, Former resident? Are they nice? Know that TN people are nice in general.. esp. Eastern TN.. hillbillies are nice ppl really!:)
