As a taxpayer I would like to take this time to applaud the board of directors of East Hampton EMS for finally acting in the town’s best and removing an unqualified individual from the position of ems chief. As this town keeps growing it is time for a more professionally run department to include a paid chief and a staffed station. Currently in East Hampton when you call 911 you can expect a 15-20 minute responses from our volunteers whereas the national average response time is less than 9 minutes. Our families deserve better!

I couldnt agree more. Middlesex ospital has officially put them on notice for multiple issues and may pull there medical direction. The public needs to get involved get this organization turned around.

As long as I can keep talking on the radio, I don't care what you do!

IF radio waves could cure people then East Hampton would be the most healthy place you could ever get hurt. Their ambulance talks on the radio more than any place including FDNY!
The FD should be role model for them. Calm, cool, collected. They handle any situation with minimal excitement and useless chatter.

You should probably put down the crack pipe for a while! There is nothing more annoying than listening to the East Hampton Fire Truck Drivers talk on the radio, they are no better than EMS, NO BETTER, both are equally annoying, monopolize the airwaves, and show just how unprofessional and incompetent they are at their respective disciplines. Do you really think the dispatchers want to hear that verbal diarrhea all day in their headsets? Switch to a fireground channel like you are suppose to and get off the county frequency. Start acting more like a professional and less like a drunk volunteer….

Bottom line. Your all a bunch of sparky whackers.
Maybe we should get paid iaff guys in here. Career firefighters are superhuman. They are the only people I know that can cook chili and pasta, file union grievances and save the occational cat from a tree. All this while lying on there backs and getting paid for it while robbing the tax payer blind.

Hey, that’s not fair to our local volunteers who took fire fighter 1 back in 1993 and have never attended any continuing education since, don’t you know that quaffing down beers and responding while intoxicated actually makes a person a better firefighter? You sir, are a jerk! Show some respect!

I just read about the part time chiefs position, this is a good thing for the taxpayers, hopefully the new chief can clean up that clubhouse and turn it into a functional EMS entity. Just think, no more shorts and white sneakers…….

We will see

We'll see how long it takes to go from all volunteer to fully paid services. The town needs to keep an eye on this beast, don't forget who help secure the funds for the castle on the hill on 16. This department need to come under the towns control and not let it remain private.

For what it's worth - we had a fire last month and the response was under 5 minutes. No complaints here.

Thats because you had a FIRE... they are talking about the ambulance people and their lack of response to calls.
