EAST HADDAM IS BAD

Atlanta, GA

Visited East Haddam last year saw a lot of drug addicts hanging about Moodus and East Haddam. Their was no place to shop or get a glass of water.

On the whole i would say this town, East Haddam / Moodus is a pass by because of all the rubbish strewn around East Haddam and poorly maintained roadways from East Haddam to Moodus.

Excuse me but whats with all the bloomin bush hats you chaps wear around town? What are you trying to prove or be from, perhaps New Zealand mate? Whats with all the bloody battle fatigue dress pants ect? Don't get it mate!

I write for the Daily Mail and next week my article on East Haddam and Moodus will be printed.
It's not going to be a nice review!!

FFFF++++ is my grade for East Haddam and Moodus.
Route or road number 82 is filthy, unkempt and in need of repair!!

I agree with you. Been through their before. To many dopers, pill poppers and strange folks hanging around pan handling and what not. Not a place i would go to again for any vacation or anything for that matter. Could not agree with you more!! No place to shop or buy stuff like Walmart ect!!!

The town itself is not very friendly and the people are mostly local yocals. I agree with the posts above this is not a place i would want to visit again.

Lots of old junk cars in peoples driveways run down delapitated old buildings, dogs out in the street no leash on plus dog do do every where.

Hartford and Bridgeport much nicer as is Middletown. Serious drug problems here in East Haddam as i noted and surrounding towns. Would you want to spend 100 - 200 grand on a dump here? If you did you just hustled friend.

No you wouldn't would you! This town is like an old bathroom! It needs serious up - grading ie new electrical, new wall board, new plumbing a place to shop some malls maybe a music store some fast food places.

Don't waste your time looking for a home or looking to buy here it's all bad. Most of the home are over two hundred years old plus! It's an over rated red neck playground. Plus that crooked politician guy called Dodd lives here, remember him?

Ask yourself, is this really the kind of mortgage I want for the rest of my life replete with rap music and kids on skate boards 24 / 7 for the rest of your life?

As a resident of East Haddam I have to completely disagree. The town is in fine condition, but it's not very populated and in no scenario could support a mall. Most chain oulets would not choose the area because it's a rural, residential town without much through traffic, except for those going to Devil's Hopyard State Park or Gillette Castle. I don't see panhandlers, I don't see addicts wandering the streets, I don't hear rap music blaring anywhere. I don't know exactly what you expect the place to be, but it's useless to compare it to Hartford, Middletown and Bridgeport, as they are entirely different types of communities. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trust the opinion of someone who thinks those three cities are nicer than East Haddam, anyway.

Additionally, your writing style is as unkempt and in need of repair as you claim Route 82 is. I can't imagine how you're employed writing for anything with what is, as far as I can tell, the ability level of a remedial 10th grader.

If I won the lottery I wouldn't live anywhere but Moodus. It is a wonderful community and the people that have commented here are total morons that don't have a clue what they are talking about. Move to some sterile sub-division in a white bread part of the country.

Been to East Haddam & Moodus. Tired old homes that were over priced. I bought a nice house in Tylerville instead. East Haddam is so out - dated it's not worth much real estate wise.

Maybe some day the East Haddam town hall will get it right and put in a shopping mall. The East Haddam airport would be great spot, that should end all the airplane crashes they have their all the time.

I would say for myself after viewing and looking at the East Haddam town web page, NAH!! Forget it. East Haddam looks to boring and need of serious "updating" as one poster has already stated.

I know Middletown is a lot cleaner than East Haddam. I have relatives that live their and the homes are very pretty and well kept and are newer than those old colonial houses in East Haddam.

Naturally when i read drug, rap music, skate board issues forget it, no way. I'm not buying a house in East Haddam at all!!!

Home buyers today are very frugal with their money and want more for less. Obviously East Haddam does not afford a prospective home buyer with that type of luxury.

What kind of crappy forum is this? Why are people from near Chicago, Houston, and London making judgements on this town? Anyone who thinks that a small town like this should have a shopping mall is just stupid. How many malls do you think a state like Connecticut can support? Should every small town have a mall? Plus, I go through Middletown daily, and there is no way it is, as a whole, cleaner than East Haddam. It seems strange to compare the two towns considering one is a small city. Maybe you are only thinking of one specific section bordering Durham.

When someone complains about drug, rap, and skateboarding problems and then extols the virtues of Middletown, Hartford and Bridgeport, it's a clear sign that that person has their head stuck firmly up their ass. What utter nonsense.
