Full story: The Courier

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Several years ago, Food Circus Super Markets operated a Super Foodtown store in Hazlet on Route 36 before it closed.

Has anyone shopped in the new Foodtown yet? I've seen flyers, prices seem ok on some items, others seem high. Any comments

Yo, Burger dude. YOU are the one who insulted a poster for no good reason. FNY asked a legit question. For no reason, you insulted him/her. Why post at all if you couldn't write something decent?

Sure. Meet in front of Foodtown. I'm a proud former Marine and now work with police departments. What would I gain by beating your face in over an online insult, besides jail and a blight on my record? You are certainly not worth it. Let this be a lesson about your online taunts. Get anger management or you will hate your life even more than you do now.

Now let's talk about the new Super Foodtown. I asked a friend of mine who lives in the area about prices. She said the same thing that FNY said: some good deals in some areas and not so great in others, but yes, there is a tremendous selection available, not only produce and prepared foods, but typical packaged foods too. She advised to compare circulars if you are very price conscious.

I see no one answered the original question yet. Yes, I went there and was disappointed. It must have taken 3 years to open since they started re-doing the inside and it looks like a few months work. The floors alone tell the story. They look horrible like a patched up factory floor. Very small drugs area (maybe half the size of other stores) which means they carry half the varieties. Other areas like fruits and vegetables are also smaller than usual. I guess they had to make due with the structure size they had to work with and my expectation of a "Super" store just wasn't realized.

I was there the other day. Prices on almost all products seem $1 higher then the local markets. However the produce, although higher in price, has beautiful unmarred fruits and veggies. The deli counter is spectacular and all the workers were friendly and aiming to please. Persoanlly I feel they will have to bring their prices down to garner competition, but they are new yet and will have to find that out on there own. Definitely worth a look-see!

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Virgo

Home is where your heart is, so stay there today if you can. Surround yourself with your loved ones, even if you're all slumped on the sofa in front of the TV. If you love cooking, you'll get sweet satisfaction from shutting yourself in the kitchen, and either producing a delicious meal or creating some Christmas food that can live in the freezer till you need it.
