Someone alert the State DOT that this addition to the already over burdened 110 corridor traffic is being proposed. Hopefully they will tell these people what they told the owners of the private property across the street. They concluded that 110 corridor cannot handle anymore traffic and refused to grant egress onto 110 for a supermarket. Now that the state wants more rent for their fairchild properties will this same standard apply? I suggest the DOT consider the sonic boom going over homes for miles around as these scumbags in their fuel sucking jets put us all at risk. The pilots association I am sure will tell us this is a safe concept. Can they tell me why private property cannot be developed yet the state property can continue to take over the entire neighborhood and skies? They cried that the supermarket makes their flights unsafe. I contend their flights should be stopped as unsafe. To the idiots who say the airport was their first. That airport was flying small single engines when the surrounding area was developed. If traffic and development can screw a private property owner out of his properties value, then the state must now also cease any further development and be denied egress. We now need to go back to moving frieght by rail and water. Nothing "has " to be anywhere overnight! This have to have in now pace our businesses runs at is becoming unfeasable in the energy climate we now suffer in. Rail and water in lieu of planes and trucks my friends rail and water.

The 110 Corridor was over crowded 20 yrs ago! Expand the airport and make it more of a regional center for L.I. Bussiness. I'm all for it.

It's a shame that Farmingdale couldn't have more of a Republic museum at the field showing ALL the planes produced there through out its history. I'd visit the sewer that is L.I. for that.

If you are against the expansion of Republic Airport, go to this site and sign the online petition that is being sponsored by the Town of Babylon:

http://www.townofbabylon.com/news.cfm...

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click where it says
"Please sign the town's petition regarding expansion of Republic Airport" (this is in blue print). Just give your name and email address (as well as further information if you choose to do so) and click on "sign petition". Your signature is then entered on the petition and you may then exit the site. There is no need to make a donation to iPetitions. Pass the information on to friends and family too. The more signatures, the better!

Why not build a complex, for a hell of a lot less, right where jets used to land and take off. GRUMANN IN CALVERTON. Guess that idea is to logical or is it that the soothsayers in Riverhead won't get a big enough kickback. Come on guys use some common sense in this one. God knows you haven't so far. We're doomed the idiots are in control.

So, they want to put up 7 new hangars. Knocking down the Airpower Museum hangar and one other, but which one? And where will they put the other five?

I don't think a 5 hour one day meeting will make everyone "happy" as Bill McShane states. It seems that none of the residents are happy about anything that flies out of FRG.

It was a test air strip when I moved here. Now its geting as big as Teterboro.

The article in Newsday (watch for the other shoe to drop there), while factual, does little to tell the public what is going to happen at Republic (FRG in airport lingo). So it might be well to compare it to one of the other notorious reliever airports in this area, Teterboro (TEB to aviators and shills).
Both airports (TEB and FRG) are designated reliever airports by the FAA.

TEB is comprised of 827 acres, FRG has 526, about 35% smaller than TEB (which means we are closer to the sources of noise, fumes, etc.)
TEB has 19 hangars with 419,000 square feet of aircraft storage space; FRG currently has about 350,000 square feet of hangar space under ten roofs, with 210,000 square feet to be added under the expansion project, which will exceed TEB by 25%(in a much smaller space).

TEB has longer runways, at 6,013 and 7,000 feet, while FRG has 5,517 and 6,827 feet.

TEB on 12/31/2006 had 171 aircraft based there, 38 single engine prop, 22 multi engine prop, 96 jet aircraft and 15 helicopters. On 12/31/2006, FRG had 546 based aircraft, 393 single engine prop, 88 twin engine prop, 44 jets and 22 helicopters.

In 2006, TEB had 545 aircraft operations per day, while FRG had 522 per day.

The expansion plan is the brainchild of SheltAir, a Florida-based company, whose Vice President is none other than our old friend William McShane of LI Jet Center fame.(The Big Wheel keeps on turning.)

With the planned expansion of the airport, it is easy to see what conditions we will live under in the future. TEB is by Federal law restricted to aircraft weighing less than 100,000 pounds (Gross Takeoff Weight), while no such limitation exists here. Bigger and better will be the legacy we will live with. The addition of 210,000 square feet of hangar space certainly does not mean that these hangars will be used for square dancing.(“If you build it, they will come”, a line I have used before in this space certainly applies here.) What is not mentioned is that there is already one hangar nearing completion at the airport which is not included in the project. But, of course, this hangar is for aircraft already based there, isn’t it AV8TOR?

If you think you have been disturbed in the past due to aircraft operations, just wait 'til this project is completed!!

I live right under the flight path of plane going to and from the airport. i have been here over 20 years and find the noise deafining, my house shakes when large planes go over it, I am sure that it is slowly damaging the structure of our home. I has diminished our quality of life inside and outside oour house. the planes take off and land at all hours of the night. I know live in fear of a mid air collision over my house and at the very worst a plane crashing into my house or property. The smell of jet fuel is disgusting and i fear for the health and safety of myself, my husband and my small children. The noise, the pollution and quality of life due to the airport is getting worse and worse. The onlytime we had peace was 9/11 and the days that followed when the airport was closed. Someone needs put an end to Republic Airports Greed and think about the health and safety of the people that live around it. I was also at Home Depot Thanksgiving eve and there were plane waiting to take off, the smell of the jet fuel made me nauseous and dizzy, I ran inside home depot with my kids and waited until those planes took off. Mc Arthur is only 20 minutes by car from republic. How hard is it for these large planes to land there? Not hard at all. someone please stop republic before it is too late. innocent children need someone to stand up for them!!!!!!!!!!
