These sirens are complete bull. EVERYONE has pagers, and the pagers have base units. This is a silly volunteer tradition like money wasting racing teams that we can never let go of.

So, what do the 75 pagers cost the taxpayers? You know, the ones that don't always work?

Thunderbolt! What's a thunderbolt? Don't be shy about going to court and filing a lawsuit against having a siren that causes physical pain. There is a real danger that permanent hearing loss will result. Doesn't the firemen care about their hearing also?

The firemen want the sirens so people will ask them what happened and they will feel important.

I think they can use cell phones and home phones to ring at these volunteers house.. Forget Pagers.

No new, expensive technology needed for that.

Oh stop!!

I'f my house or my neighbors house was on fire...everyone on the block should be volunteering. We wouldn't need Millions in equipment. Just as Volunteer Fire brigades were meant to be.

If it's louder, more powerful, and costs more money, they want it.

These things are wonderful when used appropriately. But alot of these people just like using the sirens for fun. And I hate when that happens.

And I get text messages on my cell phone for alarms. Most are timely, yesterday an MVA (motor vehicle accident) got delivred to me 2hrs after the call!!! There needs to be
some compromise here. Many districts use it for gen calls only-during certain hours. People sure like hearing it when they are the victims though. It should not be used for headaches-but then-the public should stop calling us for headaches.

You do not have to volunteer, but if you do, it is not MY fault. I do not need volunteer firefighters, I need a professional service without loud deafening sirens, flashing lights, racing cars, and firehouses on every corner. You keep not listening to the public, and pretty soon your little social club will be closed down.

Give me a break!!! I lived in upstate New York, no sirens there. The firefighters for the district were scattered over the area half the size of LI, yet their response time was excellent. Stop using poor excuses, get rid of the noisy useless sirens.

Climb down off that pedestal you have so proudly placed yourself on. We ALL care and appreciate what the vollies do day in and day out but that doesnt mean we have to tolerate everything you do. In this case you can injure someone and for what ? You dont always carry your pager, well you should then, if you want to be a Fireman then you should always be prepared. And for the dead zones, there are solutions other than destroying someones hearing. As tax payers we OWN you and your HOUSE, without US there wouldnt be YOU. I live fairly close to a firehouse and Im not deafend by their call, why should these people suffer.

There is still no need for these obsolete units to be used. there is no excuse for this, none at all.
