Just another example of the dangers that Volunteer Firefighters face everyday.
Too bad the owner didn't call F.D. FIRST. It's OUR job to make sure everyone is out safe. He could have gotten everybody killed.
Great job E.F.F.D.

"Babylon Town Fire Marshal Gil Hanse said it appeared the roof drain was clogged, and the heavy roof-based air conditioner had been hanging about 7 feet off the floor in a room with a 16-foot ceiling."

Gee Gil, you think that's what did it? Glad to see your still so observant.

What, are you pissed there were no bodies for you to pull out? What if the roof had collapsed while the owner was on the phone with your dumb self, or worse yet, sitting there, waiting for you to "evacuate them".

He saw the roof was sagging and got people out. People have cell phones these days and I'm sure at least one employee out of 20 had one. Call and wait for the FD to evacuate or evacuate and then call the FD once everyone is safe. He did the smart thing and saved their lives.

I hope if I'm ever in need of a rescue someone OTHER THAN YOU comes to my aid.

just so i know, for the future, if someone sees the same situation they should not tell the building occupants? instead they should call the fire department and wait for them to respond? gee......in this situation it seems to me - the untrained civilian - that the people in danger here were not the firemen, but the people inside the falling building.

I have a friend who saw the rubble afterwards, He told me that there was a skeleton of a fat man in a red suit and several reindeer skeletons! "BUT" the cause of the roofs collapse was a heavy sled overloaded with toys! They have kept this hushed up, so as not to upset children who still believe
