On Bridgeport Harbor many barriers to access

Full story: Connecticut Post

We are standing at the end of Seaview Avenue and staring at a small gap in a chain link fence between us and a bridge that used to go to Pleasure Beach.

A lot of people care. Who goes to the trouble of leaving a comment like "Who cares?"

It saddens me to see that places that nurtured such great memories and good times are now being casted aside for the prospects of more captalist coming to scavage a once bustly and wonderful area. When do we see that money isn't everything and somethingsdon't need to changed. Just cherished.

I lived in Bpt in the 50s&early 60s. I still visit at least 4-5 times a year. I have a hard time believing what happened to the east side.
Pleasure Beach was just what it's named for {A PLEASURE] It's a SHAME the city did'nt evan make an attempt to repair that bridge when it probably was millions less than now.

I don't know about that. I was always afraid while driving across that bridge. Sounded like the boards were falling off behind you as you drove over, like in the cartoons!
Nice little amusement park there though, back in the day. Roller coaster and a carousel too I think.
All burned down long ago I imagine.

The people on the East side need to get up off their asses and start complaining, writting letters, finding out what they can do to get a pleasure beach project going and get the shorline moving again. Quit getting drunk , doing drugs and killing each other over there and start getting up and having some pride in the city you life in lazy people! You think Bridgeport is sinking? GET UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, IT CANNOT BE DONE BY ONE MAN!

We should learn from the city of Baltimore, whose inner harbor fell into decline also. Now it is one of the nicest places to spend a weekend on the mid-Atlantic coast.

We don't need condos, we need a working deep water port. It is clear that the CT Post takes money from real estate developers. Wake up folks, people like our corrupt Mayor and the unethical editorial staff of the CT Post care nothing about Bridgeport or the working people who live here. Steel Point is a taxpayer funded ripoff of the taxpayers

There are a couple of buildings from the original
amusement park, including the carousel. There's also
the Polka Dot Playhouse and a restaurant that I've read
was NEVER USED because the bridge burned just
before it was ready for occupancy. It is such an awesome location, it's incredible that so much time
has passed with no action from either Bridgeport or
Stratford.

I have to agree. I'd volunteer to help clean it up in a heartbeat. All it takes is a little pride and not much money to keep your property looking nice.

It's too bad that the East End truly is dead. There simply is nothing to do down there, and it's too dangerous to live there. Ever try to grab something to eat in the East End? No pizza places, no restaurants (Dolphins Cove is a scumbag's restaurant made into a club for college-age idiots to get laid) and not even a Subway or Mickey D's. The East End is done. Fence it in, kick everyone out through eminent domain (allowable per the 3rd Amendment,) and make it officially the ghetto it already is. Then, raze it. Make the residents move elsewhere. They have no pride as it is, in BPT, the East End, or otherwise. Well, they probably have black/Hispanic pride. The white man is a demon there. White flight destroyed the East End. There is no denying it. You dare to call me a racist? Then what happened between 1960 and 2009? Why is the East End a sh_ithole now, yet once was a jewel?

Your opinion is irrelevant, you racist! I bet you come from an undisciplined, uncaring school system and family. See, this is what I'm talking about! If offenders were threatened with time at hard labor, instead of prison (chillin' with the homies with free food) then people wouldn't be so judgmental against other races. Just my two cents. I feel that Bridgeport, which aesthetically was once beautiful, today simply is insufficient for its residents!

There will never be another big capital operation in Bridgeport, be it fixing bridges of Steele Point. I mean the state has to pay for highways to the casinos and new buildings in Hartford and 3rd and 4th and 5th train stations in Fairfield. Just ridiculous....

I love this city, regardless of the naysayers and haters.

Time for another Boston Tea Party. The Bridgeport politicians are milking the city.
Throw them out NOW!!! While you still have a chance.
Term Limits!!! Also.
The3 potential for Bridgeport is extraordinary. The trouble is the incompetence of the people in charge.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
