Easter bonnet losing appeal

It's a tradition that dates back to when the 83-year-old pastor's wife was a girl.

I remember as a little girl all the ladies wore hats and I hate that those times have ended. I like hats and try to wear them when I can. I think the church needs to go back to tradition and require ladies to wear hats or head coverings.

Do you remember wearing of the white gloves too? I miss the times when a lady was a lady but in the same breath I like to be casual too,but church is a nice place but I have seen short shorts in church and I just can`t agree with that for to me the santuary is very sacred to me but I guess I am just getting to old.

Suz ... Even though you do not agree, God is very much alive. He lives in each and every one of us, that is, if we have asked him to enter our heart.
I invite you to go to your local library and read the series of books called "Left Behind." They may be a real eye opener for you ...

I remember a time when everyone got a new Easter outfit. Many times that included a new dress, hat, shoes with a matching purse and a new spring coat. And yes ... The white gloves too. I miss those days. Way back in the 60's ... When everything from gas stations to the grocery were closed on Sunday too. Good times ... Long forgotten or unknown to many in today's world ...

Is this a news story?
What is it about Ohio, anyway? Stories about grill cheese, now this? I mean there are so many problems in the world, that if enough people demanded it, the news would cover hard stories and knock stuff such as this out of the box.

Our local paper has many different sections...doesn't yours??
We have a Food section every Wednesday, thats were the grilled cheese and the GS cookie articles were found. We have a comic page in the Arts and Livings section. We have a very small travel section, a classified section where you can buy and/or sell items like houses, pets, furniture and you can even find jobs too.
How sad to live in a town where you local paper doesn't cover anything but the (lets see.. how did you put it, oh yes...) the hard stories.
You can find many of those in our local and front section of the paper.
I thought you learned that in the forum you posted the same critism in!!

That was a wonderful time.
I get my kids new outfits for Easter still, I loved that part of my childhood.
My mom always made sure I had a corsage that matched my dress too.
Sadly, for many, it's very hard financially to buy Easter outfits.

No, you're not!! I remember feeling gypped that when I was finally old enough to wear white gloves as a lady, they were out of style!

I wore them today, though :-)

Happy Easter, everybody!

I found this article refreshing. Every day we open our paper and we read the "hard stories" that are going on around us and in the world today. Sometimes we need to focus on the good things in life ... Or read about the grilled cheese and the hat stories too. Believe it or not ... It does help some of us get through another day without focusing on the world's trash.

Mother's day was always the big "Corsage Day" in our family. Everyone from Grandma to Mom to myself ... We all had one to wear to Church on Mother's Day.

When my husband and I started attending a Black church in Florida, I oh-ed and ah-ed at the gorgeous hats. I started taking my camera with me and now have a whole album full of Black ladies and their Sunday-go-to- meeting hats. They loved posing for me. I have a confession--I had to go buy one for myself, and am the only white lady in the album. I love those hats!

its a sad time when only "hard" stories are accepted to some people in our newspapers, maybe that is why the shrinks are so busy because no one has time for softness any more, or kindness or heck grilled cheese sandwiches.
I love the easter tradition of gettting a new dress and i have started it with my daughter 9 mths old and i even started with my son getting him a new shirt and tie. its a nice way to make sunday special.

It's because, as a rule, people don't dress up anymore.
Remember the phrase, "Sunday best", where you would wear your best clothes to go to church, or visiting relatives? Who does that any more?
