I think that you are being way to generous. Newburgh police often do good things I'm sure but they also victimize many people out of what in my opinion can be seen as nothing more than a Napoleon complex. They are too often major city rejects working in law enforcement. All to often inspite of their abilities as oppose to because of them. They have stopped my seventy-year-old mother for suspicious behavior. She was looking for her bus pass (guess it took to long) twice. My nephew was stopped and ticketed for not having a light on his bicycle. My father for littering (a cigarette butt). Myself for walking with a suitcase from my mothers house to my sisters house to catch a flight early the next morning (they live on Alpha and Gamma respectively). Those flights out never come soon enough! Another of my sisters was accidentally pepper sprayed recently while NHPD was arresting a couple of guys outside the Cricket Tavern. If you don't already know Cricket is in fact in Cuyahoga Heights not Newburgh. Do your righteous and hardworking officers know how to use a map? Or have they heard of jurisdiction? You, most of your fellow residents and certainly your officials need to go back to school and take a civics class. These are not the works of noble peace-officers or hard working sleuths. Nor are they the words of a responsible citizen. They are the actions of keystone cops and second rate intellect. Becareful who you praise. By the way, after my parents/ sister decide to sell..I'm going to find the biggest badest brother in Cleveland and offer him and I hope legions of his friends the oppurtunity to buy at rediculously reduced rates. Maybe I'll section 8 that thing. We'll see how non-discriminatory and charming your white trash ignorant community is. By the way as a gay white man who escaped that armpit I recall very little charm or any genteel nature in Newburgh.

sounds like you are a HATEFUL person who only cares about themself and an axe to grind against the BEST law enforcement department in the county! You are a rosie o'donnell want-a-be! Don't badmouth my guys. You are an obvious RACIST by your idiotic comments. Sell your run-down garbage to anyone you want - the GREAT cops of Newburgh will uphold the law! No matter who breaks it! If at some point your racist beliefs win out, then this great community will become a trash heap - just like Slavic Village! Hateful people like you only RUIN good communities!

Patrick...tsk tsk tsk. If your family does live in Newburgh Heights and you know it as well as you say you do, then you would know that law enforcement from Cuyahoga Heights and Newburgh Heights routinely answer calls in both localities, and Newburgh Heights does not have a jail, but uses the facilities in Cuyahoga Hts. If your sister was pepper sprayed at the Cricket, it was probably because she wasn't obeying an order from law enforcement and deserved it. She should feel lucky that she didn't get tasered.

Obviously Tim, Matty and Schmitty are probably Newburgh Heights cops. Or the wives of some Newburgh cops who are busy defending them while their husbands are cheating on them at work. Patrick may be a little angry but he has some good points and seems to know something about the area. There are many new faces on NHPD and many of them are dragging the department down even further. Do a little research and you will find that they rejects from other departments and have very checkered pasts. They really do seem to have Napoleon complexes as Patrick pointed out. And there knowledge of enforcement seems limited to beating and generally abusing people. After nearly spending my whole life as a resident of Newburgh Heights I'm looking for a new home. I've seen the village go thru ups and downs and it is at an all time low. And the politicians facilitating it's decline seem either blind or purely ignorant. The parttime chief that's there now has never impressed me and someone needs to take a look at his record and see if he's in any way qualified to be a police chief. In my time there I've only seen the guy maybe once or twice a week if that and the few times I had contact with him he didn't particularly amaze me with his knowledge or professionalism. Just alot of hot air. If I worked there I'd be a ebarassed by him. Patrick maybe should have calmed down a minute before he left his comment but just because you may disagree with some of his philosophy doesn't mean he's wrong about Newburgh police.

seems like the only ones who do not like the Newburgh Hts police department or their police officers are the ones who are in trouble with the law or have received a ticket of some sort in the past. My advise to you all is before you judge them make sure you know them first, you are clueless of what it takes to be a police officer in todays scrude up society. The men and women of law enforcement are the only thing stopping Newburgh Hts from becoming a extention of Clevelands drugs and prostitution, so before you comment on the job they do and how they do it, keep that in mind .I cant see how you can condole someone for doing there job and keeping the streets safe for all residents. As for the chief of police for Newburgh Hts I have met him many times and think he is doing a wonderful job for the village and the residents. It takes time to make changes for the better of a community and a proper way to do that, which the new chief is doing.

if your sister was peppersprayed at the cricket she deserved it! It is funny how riff-raff take NO responsibility for their actions, and then make excuses for breaking the law. the cricket is in cuyahoga hts.- obviously you don't know the area too well! your lack of knowledge leads me to believe you are a poorly educated cleveland public school drop-out! the bottom line is that lower class loafers want to move into this area and destroy it - just like they did to slavic village! The Newburgh Hts. P.D. is an excellant force trying to keep this from coming to fruition! All you low-life criminals and section 8'ers - keep out!

unfortunately a lot of people think they no the law and were the jurisdiction of one department stops and another either ends or starts. seems to me either your sister Patrick was either in the wrong place at the wrong time or was in the cricket getting smashed like a true alcoholic and heard the commotion and decided to be nosy and interfere with a situation that was way out of her league.

I have to say that the Newburgh police really only have revenue on thier agenda. It is very obvious that after living in the area for 8 years the area is a small money pit for drivers that get so unlucky to pass thru. The police look for any minor infraction they can in an attempt to grab some cash for the declining area.

every police department is like that no matter what city or state you live in. The difference is that we use that as a reason to stop a vehicle not necessarily to ticket them, thats why its considered probable cause for a stop. If the person checks out, off they go with a mear warning in a verbal form. how do you think the major offenders are apprehended, its through a traffic stop for a petty vehicle violation. You want to talk about a attempt to gab cash for a area that has declined and has no community you need to look at the police of Linndale.

Newburgh is full of sh*t. I was just pulled over for no other reason than a cracked windshield that isn't in the viewing area and sited with unsafe vehicle. no warning ticket just a fine. My next door neighbor leases a vehicle and the fine Newburgh police pulled up and ran his plate it was 2 days expired without his knowledge he lives less than a mile. the good cops of newburgh decided that this person who has no tickets in the past 10 years needs to have his vehicle towed instead of following him home. Sure most police officers are good people and understand that people don't see when one brake light bulb is out. But not your newburgh. The will ticket their 90 year old mother for jaywalking. If you don't live here don't bother protecting them. They are for the most part a**es. A few good ones many Barney Phifes.

Typo correction, Veverka is a cop "there." Veverka works for the department which makes me think my original assumption that a few of the post here are from newburgh cops or their friends.

Newburgh cops are under investigations for abuse of authority and too many assaults on ploice officer charges as they like to beat up women and men...and most are here because other dept fired and don't want the bad guys...the new cheif is being ready to be brought up on charges
