I know everyone doesn't believe this or even heard about this , but it is true,CHECK WITH YOUR OWN INS> AGENT.....please keep this coming to the top , so people start noticing it,,FEMA is going to force mortgage companies to require FLOOD INS,, and this will be for ALL loans,,,not just the future loans, but the loans that are current,,,everyone MUST understand this,,,REP Costello needs everyones help,,,,this is from Dupo , going north (I believe) all the way to Wood River,,,150,000 homes......aband this insurance isn't even close to the cost that it once was,,for example,,it might cost 300-400 now... it will be ,just figure 1,000-2,000 dollars,,,,,and it has to be paid all at once......so please spread the word ,and keep this near the top .....the is a letter going around,, that they are wanting everyone to send to BUrris and Durbin,, to help Costello,,,check Dupo topix for some info

From what I was told is yes it may cost that $1000-$2000 but only if you don't have it in place before it is mandated. We decided to get it last year when this first came up & the above is what I was told, if it is true or not I have yet to see. Now if the cost does go to $1000-$2000 I'll move and most likely just abandon the house because there is no way I could afford an extra $85-$170 a month added on to what I pay out now and I definitly couldn't pay it all at once.

You can get "grandfathered" into a zone, but it's no guarantee your premiums won't increase. And when has an insurance company not raised premiums at any chance they could??

I called and asked & I guess either I was told wrong when I asked the last time or I misunderstood what I was told. IF they change the flood plain the way they are saying it will be mine flood insurance will go up at least 6 fold. Plain and simply put I will be forced out of my house of 20plus years. But I heard that as of right now Jerry F. Costello may have gotten all of this put on hold until at least 2012. I will be writing him & complaining about this because with my HIGH TAXES on my house($2200) & the additional flood insurance($1200 or more) cost would hit us hard in the pocket book to the point we would have to move, peroid.
Screw that garbage, we already pay some of the highest taxes in the state and now that want to pull this BS. They can have my house & the lost tax base that will come with it as it sit empty for years like the other 5 houses near me, F'em all..

It's not Jerry you need to complain to...he's needing the senators help. Write to both of them.

Someone should be posting the letters around town to get people to sign, and send off. I know I will.

If Cahokians are willing to sign and send I'd love to put them all over there too. I gave a couple of people in Columbia some too. The more the merrier.

talked to an insurance agent. thestory is that the mortgage holders may or may not require you to have flood insurance.the flood zones are being re-done. but it is not the state making it mandatory, but it could be the company who holds the mortgage

My house is paid for so they can't force this on me.
Recently I had a talk to my insurance agent about the earthquake insurance and told him the old house has been standing since 1932.
His reply was, it hasn't hit yet and I started laughing and told him , exactly.
This is an insurance scam to get your money.
The old levees were built right back in the day when men would work and they built them right but they may need some upgrading now so make your own choice.
I won't pay it.
