Does anyone think there is a serious imbalance between the number of public housing units, and the number of privately owned homes, within Cairo and Alexander County? As the residents pull up roots and leave the City of Cairo and the county, the number of private homes appears to be shrinking. However, the number of public housing units is not changing any. Homes are for sale, or sit empty, or are burned down due to mysterious causes, and the property tax base keeps shrinking. Have we passed the point of no return, and can only look for more decline? Would like to hear good debate, sound arguments, and any remedies anyone might have. Let's hear from some of you. We appear to be heading to the point where the few remaining property owners, are going to be hit with ever increasing taxes just to keep the wheels of government turning.

And furthermore it appears to me the residents of the large public housing units are being used to sway the outcomes of all elections. The "handlers" are able to intimidate, pay for those votes, and deliver a large section of votes to the candidate of their choice---Democrat. The few taxpayers left are paying the fare for the county to operate, and are getting the shaft on election day. When will the honest people of this county wake up and declare "It is over, we will not tolerate this kind of election capers. The "handlers" do not care one bit about the interests of the taxpayers in this county, only about their self interests, hidden agendas, and corrupt abilities to sway elections. You know who you are, and I feel sorry for you.

I fill that there isn't enough people with the money to care about helping our county. If the people with influences where able to bring industries to our area, of some kinds, the people that make this county" poverty stricken" would have a way to work and get off Public aids and bum'n from any where they can kind.
The word I hear is that the new interstate will be coming thru the Tamms Elco area. It would be nice to see people with vision, time, and money would be able to put gas stations, markets, camping, and other services in our areas

For the most part, if there was a way for the people to make a living, there would bE less use for government housing and it would helP mOre private homes for sell be sold

Is there anyone out there with the guts to comment on the use of the public housing residents to control the election outcomes. They are not helping themselves by selling their votes, just prolonging the corruption that the "handlers" dish out. If the voters in this county would turn out around 85% there would be some real squealing going on the day after the election. By staying home and not voting you are permitting the present situation to continue. VOTE!!!

Public housing has become not much different from the good ole days, confined to small area (multiply not for work now for votes)given a little spending money and food, occasional uproar bring in Jesse or al for a little money to quiet things down, get ready for the election by sending my minions down from the big house with promises of just a little more time and I can fix this, how may more generations.

This person speaks the truth, y'all. It really doesn't matter who you vote in down here. Cook County carries Illinois, and southern Illinois just doesn't matter to anyone who doesn't live here.
