Hate to say this and I hope that it isn't true but I heard South Amboy and Sayreville won't be back for a couple of weeks. Substations under water and need to dry out and Wednesday we're expecting a noreaster

I understand when you say that about the station on River Road but there is a Power generating station on Washington Road by the Parlin Post Office, which can provide power, being that's its high and dry. I Just don't get it.

Still no FEMA office in Sayreville or Middlesex County as far as I know. I am dismayed by the lack of response and communication from local governement. People have been left to fend for themselves. There is a shelter with 150 people in it at Senior Center and a couple of warming stations with no coffee, food or water. The mayor has left several messages on residents landlines but with no power the majority of the residents are unaware and uninformed. As far as the Mayor's last message, power should be back by Wednesday, but I'm not counting on it... Also in his last message he lets us know that tap water is safe, all this 5 days after the storm. It is a pathetic state of affairs when I see young mothers and the elderly go cold and hungry in this town. It is happening! Wake up! Please send help...

I agree. The communication by the local gov't is extremely poor. It's my understanding that most of the power problem in the area is the substation issue...but nobody has been able to tell us that. It might have given us a good idea that we would be waiting a longer time than normal to get power back.

They also should have gone around checking on people and informing them where they could get some warm shelter...especially for the elderly. Last I checked, there are roughly 130 cops on Sayreville's force...plus the axillary police. What the hell are we paying them for?

People without phones have no idea where to even start looking.

Its getting so frustrating without power....can we just get an exact date ..of when the power will be restored because living in dark is not fun and trust me it makes us more frustrating thinking that everyone around us has power and not us like seriously...can we get an exact date...

The majority of Sayreville has power as of last night. I don't, but most of the town does.

I'm in Parlin on Becker Drive. We lost power before the storm even hit (3:45PM Monday to be exact). For those familiar with the area, Becker runs between Haven Terr and Maiden Ln off Bordentown. Wednesday night, Haven Terrace got power. Maiden Lane got Power. Bordentown in-between them got power. We have no downed lines, no blown transformers, and we still haven't been restored. Saw a JCP&L crew walking the street the day Christie was in town, so they know there is no damage. Haven't seen anyone since. I've emailed JCP&L, Mayor O'Brian, all the City Councilmen...nothing. I'm beyond furious at not only the lack of response, but the lack of information. Points noted...guess who's not getting my votes.

So now that the power has been mostly restored, it's time to fire the Mayor.

It's my understanding that the residents of Sayreville got notices in there mailboxes with information on what was going on...but they missed a ton of people.

The residents of Skytop Gardens are in the Parlin section of Sayreville, and didn't receive a single notice. I willing to be Winding Woods received no information as well.

Thanks O'Brien...I'll be sure to vote for my first time ever just to be sure the forgotten people of Sayreville never have to deal with the lack of effort again...people in gov't need to be held accountable for their mistakes.
