PA needs to enforce a mandatory helmet law. Too many preventable motorcycle fatalities due to cyclists not wearing helmets!

I personally wear a helmet, but I think the current laws are good enough.
If you are an adult then you can make the decision.
I hope the rider is okay. Also the 16 year old. This could just be an acident, so we do not need negative remarks. Let the inveatigation work it self out.

Than why do i have to wear a seat belt? I gotta pay extra insurance for people that don't wear helmets!
That just happened

thank you! Everybody thinks so neagtively and is wanting to point the finger at the teenage driver, autimaticaly thinking that she had to be on her cell phone. Nothing was said about a cell phone let alone that it was her fault. People are so steriotypical!

How can PA ENFORCE a law that does not exist? Did you mean ENACT? Possibly they could once again PASS a law making the wearing of helmets mandatory for cycle riders. If you recall, we DID have such a law; no more though, so what's to enforce?

You are correct, PADAD. I should have said 'enact' rather than 'enforce'. I stand corrected. Thank you, sir.

Why does the discussion have to center on whether or not he wore a helmet? The point is an irresponsible driver drove into his path and caused a fatal accident. Yes, fatal. My good friend Tom died on Wednesday because of the actions of a careless driver, not because he was or was not wearing a helmet. I hope the driver has to take full responsibility for what she did. I'd hate see this turned into a "oh, the poor girl. maybe it wasn't her fault at all and she is being needlessly criticized. A good man is dead now because of her and I don't think it is fair to him that the conversation turns to the helmet controversy.

BTW sg teenager: do your homework. the car pulled into his path. how could this not be her fault. Plus, it's stereotypical and automatically not "steriotypical" and "autimaticaly". Maybe stereotypes have some truth to them.

Sorry to hear that your friend passed, I know how much this sucks I too lost a friend the same way. And who knows that if he wore a helmet if the outcome would be different.

And you know for a fact this would have saved their life? That was a friend of mine and I ride as well but you are not a doctor who could say for sure that a helmet would have saved his life! As many people die on motorcycles with helmets as without so unless you know the facts don't talk about something you know nothing about!

I think you are misunderstanding what I meant. what I meant was, who is to say that a helmet would have saved his life due to the severity of the incident.
