Well the government just took one step further into invading our privacy. If they want sprinklers in their homes, fine, put them in. Why can't they mind their own business? Do they not understand that there isn't a never ending supply of money? Oh thats right, they are involved with the government where there is an endless supply of money.

This is crazy, when will it stop. More is coming, Penn township wants to pass a law to inspect rental units. More government in our pockets.

Its about time substandard rental/multifamily units are made safe. Maybe builders/landlords wouldn't be so worried if everything in there buildings were up to safety specs. and people were actually safe. The builders/landlords complaining about this are the ones looking out to line there pockets not protect the people.

Hey, Landlord. What do you have to hide? Rental units should be inspected for safety and compliance. If you cared about the people living in your units, inspections wouldn't bother you. You are only thinking about the money and not the human issue.

Builders do have a code mandated and inspected now. The cost of these sprinkler systems will be passed on to the buyers of these homes.

Why not inspect every property then? I'm sure every homeowner would be happy to pay for the costs of these inspections.

Scott:

Why not inspect them all indeed!! I am all for that! Why should my property suffer because there are others who try to skirt the law? Why should the life of my children and myself be in jeopardy because the person living in the apartment next door, upstairs, downstairs smokes?
Wake up!! Today very few people have respect, consideration, or care for those around them! It is about time someone does something about it and I feel that the fire department and the supervisors did just that.

More government regulations, just what we need. This is about freedom and a smaller government. People complain about affordable housing, both thes items will drive up housing prices and rental rates. When will the craziness end.

You are still skirting the issue of safety, Landlord. The only freedom you are concerned about is the freedom for you to make $$$. That makes you no better than the government, in my book. Your tenants, however, have no freedom from the fear of fire unless fire safety measures are taken.

If you are so concerned, why don't you install a sprinkler system in your home? Would you also like a crossing guard to help you across the street or perhaps personal security team?

Funny thing is Scott, that wouldn't bother me at all. I don't need a crossing guard because I live along a country road. The sprinkler system is a very good idea and I have looked into it. I do live in a single family house and do not smoke. The chances of my neighbor setting my house on fire are very slim. Whereas, if I lived in an apartment complex, I would certainly worry about fire. As far as a personal security team........I didn't think this was required by the township.
