it's too bad no one seems to have the time anymore to serve on boards and/or commities which directly affect their HOME towns. sounds pretty much like if you want a position and/or appointment, the only prerequisite is... the ability to "fog a mirror" and/or throw up an election sign or two. with the day and age we find ourselves in today, you would hope those (of us) who demand to get what they "pay" for, the same would apply to elected officials. oh wait... maybe this is the problem... no one wants to be inconvenienced and/or spend their valuable time serving their community, without being "highly" compensated for their efforts. what happens?... WOLVES step into these positions unchallenged and/or unaccountable thus allowing/supporting these so called elected officials to run wild, helping themselves and/or their cronies to whatever they can get their hands on!!! now that i (might) have your attention and HOPEFULLY your "irish" up, i DO NOT claim all (local) elected and/or appointed officials are crooks and/or YOU do not volunteer in any way, however my point is... when you rely on just anyone off the street to lay the "foundation", you really can't be suprised and/or upset when the "house" begins to crumble. i'm beginning to understand how issues like developement and/or the lack of professional services, in your neck of the woods, have gotten so F'ED up!! when you enter a jackass into a horse race... don't expect to come out a winner or even place. charity begins at home and until you roll up your sleeves and get involved, don't be so surprized when you lose control of and/or in your own town/county. just as any good leader will say... don't expect others to do what you will not, in fact, do yourself. today there are far too many people focused on their jobs and/or the "almighty dollar" rather than their own homes and/or family... unfortunate isn't it?
