Remember textiles' role here
Gone are those days of a much simpler time when crime was unheard of and for the most part peace and tranquility prevailed throughout the old mill village.

I moved from Slater (to Ohio) many years ago 25+ and have been reminiscing some lately about my old stomping grounds. I was down there 3 maybe 4 years ago and cannot believe the difference! I grew up in the house on the corner of Lindburgh st.(?) Then we moved to T.R. in the yellow 2 story home across from Old white horse road & the new Ingles. I cannot believe how badly dilapidated both homes are. I can remember the old community building in Slater and also walking or riding my bike down to the old barber shop that was below the post office in Slater, oh to be a carefree kid again!
