Are you suprised that this happened? Cops ARE ALWAYS given preferential treatment. I have seen many cops drinking at bars and driving home because they can get away with it.. IT DISGUSTS ME! A person's life was lost and this kid walks away, I hope he feels ashamed of himself and I hope the PA State Police Department and every other law enforcement individual involved in that investigation is proud of what they have covered up..GET OVER YOURSELVES! TAKE AWAY THE GUN AND BADGE AND YOU PEOPLE ARE NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Many cops (not all) think they are above the law. They let their job go to their head. They think they can get away with anything and cover for each other.
These days they will let just about anyone become a cop. It's a darn shame. They aren't there to protect and serve in many cases...they are there to protect and serve THEIR interest and their BUDDIES interests.

This is an absolute disgrace! Once again law enforcement officials prove why they cannot and should not be trusted! I hope that NBC10 pushes for a full investigation from internal affairs(who cops hate by the way! Wonder why!) It is obvious that this kid got away with two offenses three offenses in one day. Hit and run, D.U.I. and vehicular homicide! What does it take to get charged with a crime if your connected to law enforcement?

They need to charge the driver & then charge all the officers involved with obstruction of justice. Cops are known to protect each other & each other's families. But to protect a family member from a accident that they caused that killed someone is way beyond that 'code of silence'. The cops are just as much criminals here as the man driving the truck.

Sure looks like an open and shut case to me--send him to prison for death by auto and dui.

Yep, he got off because his stepfather is a cop--no two ways about it.

Selective justice at its finest.
This is classic:
"The fact that there's an accident or that you have one indicator such as weaving is not enough probable cause for a police officer to submit to a blood analysis," Lehutsky said."
An accident isn't probable cause?????? What would be. Do you have to see the driver drinking in his car... this cop should be stripped immediatedly of his badge.
How about the hit and run three hours before, is that probable cause? Anyone involved in this investigation should be charged as a felon.
The poor family.. The driver wasn't charged because the State Police are nothing but thugs in uniform.

I think this system is awful. A person can hit someone kill a person and get off like he just step on someone's toe. Because he's a state trooper's son, he can get off with a pat on the back and that's it - OH WOW!! Now this family is torn apart not having a mother, but I guess that's okay as long as it's not him or his family. We know the saying - money talks -and we know what walks.

It's a damn disgrace! The Corporal as well as the stepson, nephew or whomever he is, should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The "Corporal" title should've met more to you then protecting an idiot. There are no priviledged characters in the world today. Good Girl Macaulay! Your mommy taught you well. Continue to pull daughter rank.

This is an outrage! It proves that if you know someone you can get away with anything without paying the consequences.

Someone is in trouble, twice the legal limit and they did not smell alcohol????weaving NOT good cause is a joke,I was pulled over because my tire touched the yellow line.If they would have stopped him after the hit and run and charged him the poor kids Mom would be alive. It takes more than one state cop to cover this up and ALL of you are to blame.

this is why people dont like police officers. they protect the criminals. The officer involved which is the stepfather should lose his job if he had anything to do with it either.. those poor kids have to wake up everyday with out ther mother. there needs to be some kind of justice if not they should sue the department.

My condolences to the family first and formost. This story makes me sick to my stomach the fact that this man got away with murder! This man should be charged with vehicular manslaughter. Why isn't this man in jail! drunk driving and vechicluar manslaughter and he's free to get away with it again.

This is really crazy, I don't have a LAW DEGREE and clearly I can see something wrong with this picture! If you have a state trooper in your family, trust me on this they can get all kind of tickets erased, even traffic tickets written in pen!
