Compassion does not exist in the natural world. A sudden wind uproots a tree with no regard for its usefulness. A boulder slips from its perch and crushes the flowers that flourish peacefully at its base. A stormy sea swallows a ship with no regard for the souls on board. Compassion is a characteristic that flows only from the heart of God.
The words and actions of others may hurt you. When you respond with a heart of compassion, however, you demonstrate that you are God's child. God has compassion on you even if you turn your back to Him, and He extends His hand to help you when you are lost and without hope. In the same way, you show your god likeness by letting His compassion flow through you to others.
"You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness." Psalm 86-15 NIV
Prayer: Thank you, God, for pouring out your compassion on me. And thank you for allowing me to share that compassion with others. Amen
