Here it is in english.
vote "YES" on PROPOSITION 3 when you vote this may 29th

The proposition reads;

Should the Texas legislature allow the people of Texas to vote to legalize casino gambling with all the funds generated (for the state) being used only for (public) education?

Winnig at these casinos will be the same as winning in the present casino but now you will be able to choose where you want to go.

Keep it all in Texas!

This is a good start towards using legal casinos to finance our economy.

Legalized gambling in Texas will kill the Kickapoo Casino and the Eagle Pass economy.

Also, this won't happen because Governor Perry has vowed to veto any state gambling proposals and he will be Governor till 2014. Adn his most likely succesor Greg Abbott will also veto gambling in Texas. Sorry but its not gonna happen. But that's good news for the Kickapoo Casino and the economy of Eagle Pass.

Wasn't the lottery money suppose to go to education too? At least that was the scam politians used to get it passed. But, once it got passed, the money started being shifted elsewhere.
Sorry, I just can't buy into this. Actually, right now, I find it very hard to buy into anything a politian says.

Casinos Do Not Rescue Jobs Or State Budgets From Economic Downturns.

Nevada, the epicenter of legalized gambling, has the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the nation (12.9%) and ranks #1 in home foreclosures.( Stateline.org , The Pew Center on the States1). Clark County, Nevada, home to the Las Vegas Strip, has the 4th highest unemployment rate in Nevada (13%).(Nevada Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation2). 27,500 jobs have been slashed in the Las Vegas hotel-casino industry since December 2007 (a 15% reduction).(Las Vegas Business Press, December 21, 20093) Nevada is “hemorrhaging” tax revenue, leading to a projected $2.1 billion budget shortfall for 2011, due to the state’s heavy dependence on gambling and sales taxes.(Las Vegas Sun,

In Mississippi, Tunica County’s unemployment is around 16%, despite being the most popular gambling tourism destination behind Las Vegas and Atlantic City, with nine resort casinos.(Marketplace, National Public Radio5) Mississippi casino revenues have plummeted to their lowest point since 2005 when Hurricane Katrina wiped out a dozen coastal casinos.(The Clarion Ledger, December 21, 20096). Casinos have not prevented “the biggest budget crisis Mississippi has seen in almost a century.”(Hattiesburg American, December 20, 20097)“In locale after locale, citizens are realizing that they were snookered by politicians' promises that casinos would provide a problem-free explosion in jobs and income from tourism. Three casinos have opened in Detroit, for example, but the city looks as desiccated as ever, and one of the operators is embroiled in bankruptcy court.”(Wall Street
Journal, January 2, 20098)

Casinos Cannibalize Local Businesses And Shift Profits To Major Out-Of-State Gambling Outfits.

An analysis of 55 counties that got casinos between 1990 and 1992 showed no significant economic benefits.“[E]conomic development tends to be a wash because ‘most places overestimate the amount of tourism they eventually get. Most gambling appears to be by local people. In that case you’re moving money around in the economy, rather than bringing in new money.’”(US News & World Report,

Revenues are falling in Mississippi because Louisiana, regional Indian tribes & Arkansas have wised up & started building their own casinos -- not because casinos are "bad" for the economy.

Sure the unemployment rate is absymal in Tunica -- but trust me -- it was far worse before the casinos came -- its just the region -- the Mississippi Delta is like Mexico -- bitterly poor.
