Again, COMPLETELY misinformed. This bill is not socialist. I think the only thing you can maybe interpret as "socialist" is the fact that it's expanding Medicaid coverage to 133% of the federal poverty line for adults (in Texas it was a ridiculous 13%). What that means is that if you had a family of four and made about $23,000 a year, you as an adult wouldn't qualify for Medicaid in TX because you would have to make 13% of $23,000.

What the bill really does new is 4 things: prevents insurance companies from raising premiums or denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions (cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, etc), forces insurance companies to use the majority of the premium pool of money to go to actual health care instead of profits, prevents insurance companies from just raising premiums on a whim, and reduces the amount of excess spending in Medicare (like giving both tax credits and refunds on the same thing). There's also a lot of small things which are really good in the bill like the fact that young adults up to 26 years of age being covered under their parents' plan, requiring certain buildings to have breast-feeding rooms, fixing the Medicare Plan D doughnut hole (making it easier for the elderly to afford their medications), and requiring that insurance companies provide you with one free doctor's visit. There's also the major thing of the health care bill actually bringing down the deficit by 200 billion dollars in 10 years and about a trillion after 20 years. I thought you Republicans were worried about the deficit? Guess not...

Do you realize how disgusting it is that people with cancer or other serious medical conditions are struggling trying to pay for their insurance and treatments while insurance CEO's are riding around in private jets (Aetna's CEO being an example)? Also, I guess by your definition, the Republicans during the Nixon administration and even Mitt Romeny were also socialist because the former tried to pass a similar bill and the latter actually signed the exact same bill in Massachusetts. Ooops. LOL Do try to inform yourself with FACTS every once in a while. It can help.

Forgot to add $23,000 a year being the federal poverty line for a family of 4. With the health care law, you can make 133% of $23,000 to qualify for Medicaid as an adult now (with a family of four). Now entire families can actually afford health care.

Is there a web site where we con get more information on this.

As it is today, individuals don't qualify for medicaid if they earn more than $214 a month.

Ok idiot how is that not socialist your taking the right of self determination away from the hospitals and making the people's depend on the govt. that's horse shit you shouldnt have to worry about the poverty line if you lazy liberals would get up and actualy work and make more of your self. Take care of your self instead of reliying on the govt. it's sad that people in America worry about being below or = to the poverty line we need to embrace capitalism. Give every one the equal opritunity of education to make something of there selves and have the equal opritunity to succeed and if you are to lazy or dont have the drive to do it then I guess natural selection take it's course. Our founding fathers are probably turning in their graves right now.

This is a perfect example of a typical Republican idiot.*yourself *opportunity *themselves (not theirselves)*opportunity again. Are you even writing in English? I'm sure by your theory that our founding fathers would just LOVE America becoming exactly like the UK/America before the American Revolution (where only wealthy monarchs/nobles had all the privileges and the poorer common folk had no say). I mean, Republicans have the exact same philosophy when it comes to the rich right? Take away all the voting rights and any say from the poor so that the rich can continue to pillage and exploit? That's sarcasm (because judging by how you write, it may take you a while to figure it out).

Just fyi, I'm actually employed with a great job (I don't live off of food stamps and welfare money). The main reason that I'm a liberal democrat is because I understood when I was younger (and my parents were unemployed) that a crappy situation can happen to anyone (even you). If the Republicans had it their way there'd be no safety net and you'd be f*cked if you ever got fired/became disabled or suffered any other unfortunate circumstance. I actually have a conscience, unlike you, and wouldn't want to see someone that is trying hard to get back on their feet to not even be given a chance (even if there are people that exploit the system).

Google Federal Poverty Lines. The first website gives you a chart on the size of your family (you include yourself in the number) and what 100% of the Federal Poverty Line is for your instance. As I said previously, Texas currently only gives Medicaid to pregnant women up to 6 months after delivery, children, and adults up to 13% of the federal poverty line (meaning whatever you earn annually has to equal or be less than 0.13 times the Federal Poverty line amount for your family size). Once a lot of the provisions from the new bill become active (about 2 years), it'll be 133% of the federal poverty line (so 1.33 times the federal poverty line for your family size in the chart and you have to make less than or equal to that amount). Hope that helps.

Ok pal I never said to get rid of the safety net. Theirselves??? Ha that my friend is comunism. You say republicans are about taking voting right? Democrats want people to depend on the government that sounds an awful lot like pre rev. Times to me. Republicans are about true independence and its the poors fault for not making something of themselves (excludes: disabled) its capitalism at its finest sir and to that I thank you.
