I don't know but, those garbage cans are not really so good. Some of us have alot of garbage and I don't think that gallon would be enough, especially if they are going to pick up the thrash once in a week? I think it's a stupid idead?

Good question. In my opinion I also think this garbage can plan might not work, but we'll just have to wait to see what happens.

By the way... You should check out www.eaglepassdaily.com for the latest news regarding this topic.

It's about time the City took action to standardize the trash collection. I for one am tired of seeing plastic trash bags laying on the ground waiting for stray dogs and cats to scatter the contents all over the city. Next the City needs to start taking action on the stray dogs/cats problem.

If you read the flier it stated that it would save money by reducing man power. At first I thought, GREAT, The economy what it is, so lets replace folks paying jobs with machines. Lo and behold it was the same two guys picking up my garbage this morning. One driving the truck, the other wheeling the cans out to the back of the truck and hooking it up to the lift. Now the garbage men are to lazy to lift my garbage cans. What a waste of my tax dollars.

The problem I foresee happening is that people will start stealing them. The city doesn't want you to mark them in any way, so when yours gets stolen all you have to do is go steal somebody else's.

they don't think they just steal!! this idea was stupid!! i've seen my neighborhood with this garbage cans filled up, but you see, who ever came up with this idea was totally stupid. you'll see that for people with lots of garbage they are going to receive notices that they must purchage another one for a monthly price so what does that tell you....RATS!!

and as for you, taking action with dogs & cats, you must be some person who kills innocent animals, what we need here is animal cops especially for people like you, because you sound like a animal cruelty person!!!

Did some checking around. The reason for the new cans is in answer to law suits and medical claims by city workers suffering from back and shoulder injuries.

The person responding said take action on the stray animal problem, not abuse or kill them. It should start with a county wide licensing law. I'm tired of the animals running around my neiborhood that are owned by my neibors.

Any one house that produces enough trash to fill up the new cans on a regular basis needs to reconsider their consumption practices. That or decrease the number of persons living in the one house.
