I thought you could serve drinks until 2 a. m. and people had a reasonable time to finish last call.

I don't think so. I played in bands in Minnesota, and I recall that last call was 15 minutes before closing, and the bartenders were instructed to collect all drinks...finished or not...at closing. Any bartenders out there to clarrify?

I'm not sure about MN, but closing time laws definitely vary by state. In some states everybody has to be out the door by the top of the hour. In other states they just can't keep their drinks past then. In still other states they can't buy after the top of the hour, but it's up to the bar to decide how long to allow them to take to finish drinking and when to make them leave.

Where I bartend, we can sereve til 2, and people have to be out by 2:30. They can still finish their drink in that time slot.

FYI, last call is at 1:45 am. You have until 2 to finish that drink. Common sense people.

That's against the law. I would speak to your manager about it. You could receive a hefty fine if caught.

And here I thought this was going to be a story about him inappropriately talking to and touching his female employees like it usually is with him. Way to go Joe, you dirty old creep.

Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one. Schaefer's pleasures doesn't fade even when your thirst is done. The most rewarding flavor in this man's world, when people are having fun..
Schaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one!

Sorry, I couldn't resist adding the Schaefer beer tune in honor of Joe Schaefer.

2:15 AM on the 26th means they'd been boozin' since Christmas night, Einstein.

Kind of like how one car accidents always happen on "Sunday Morning," but that doesn't mean they were heading home from church.
