Besides remodeling and a little cleaning, what has he done? That's the main question?

What has he done?

1. Trimmed a million dollars from the budget; required cross training which resulted in better utilization of employees = more tax savings.

2. Reorganization of sanitation department, which resulted in $100,000 savings per year.

3. Improvement in Natural Gas services, which resulted in several hundred thousand dollars of annual savings.

4. When the Police Chief resigned, he insisted in a professional search for a new police chief, which resulted in a professional being appointed to the position vs the local politics choice.

5. Has exposed waste in several departments, which is resulting in better use of man power.

6. Has employed professionals in the IT department, and HR department.

7. And a lot of other positive things not worth banging his drum about.

Bottom line, the City was falling into deep financial problems under the previous administration. It was no secret that a major tax increase was around the corner. If you do not believe that, then ask any Department Head what Revell/Reed was saying if they had gotten reelected: MAJOR TAX INCREASE AHEAD BOYS

Now you know the answer to your question.

So you add that all up, divide by number of population, divide that over the number of years he's been in office and did that tiny bit if even that, and that is pennies! Oh and don't forget to minus from your figures there all the taxpayer dollars spent/wasted on workers that won't work, mayor buddies included and don't forget the fact that gas had gone done so of course you saved. The mayor of Dyersburg didn't do that. That is nothing compared to jobs and paychecks. Still this mayor has done NOTHING.

Man you must be stupid? Just where are the jobs at in this region? country? We are in a recession and you want to bust a small town Mayor for no jobs? What a dumbarse you are. Thank you Mayor Holden. This tax payer recognizes and appreciates all that you and your staff have done in keeping out a tax hike during these hard times. Keep up the good work.

So how does a small town Mayor bring jobs? When there are no jobs to bring? Maybe he should hire democrats to tax the rich to pull jobs out of his arse? Man, this country is going to the dogs and dumbarses. Until this recession is over, there aint going to be many new jobs anywhere.

If you don't like living in Dyersburg, then move to Ripley, or Brownsville, Ridgley, Dresden, Tiptonville, Caurethersville or anywhere else in this region. Send us a fricking postcard letting us know just how great it is there and just how many jobs they have available.

So why don't you go ask the mayor how many businesses trying to come into to Dyersburg that would create jobs have been turned away because they didn't want to...? We'll just stop it there. How childish is it to get on a public forum and call people names because they don't agree with you and because they state their own opinions? How republican of you...

No one said they didn't like the town. Some of us just don't like the mayor and his lack of ability to run the town. Now if you don't like what you read here, can't handle hearing others opinions that may differ from yours, and can't carry on an adult conversion without acting like a child and calling names, maybe you should leave.

He is going a great job cleaning up. Dear guest, you must be thinking of Revell. He was the one turning everyone away. Not sure, go hang out on all the property he bought in the new industrial park where the spec buildings are and ask him. Real christian guy, knew where all the new business ventures would come in and took all the land. Great job Bill. You sure looked out for yourself.

hmmm let me guess? You are one of those putting money in your pocket? or are you one of those with their nose up someone's butt too far? Well then i guess you would be offended if that is so... YOU are making yourself look Stupid by calling names. How old are you? 12? Fact is, many people do not like him and do not agree with him or his actions and fact is, if someone runs against that's even just a little better than him he just might lose so don't get too comfy at that desk job or riding around in that truck...the next mayor might not let you get by with it...

True. Agreed about Revell. But you know it's still going on. People that know do talk... Whether the mayor realizes, that's another story. However, it is his job to know what's going on.

Do you honestly think he has been in office this long and he just now heard complaints of guys not doing their jobs? This has been going on for years. People have complained for years. Therefore he just didn't give a poop until it gets close to election time. Yes there is corruption everywhere, not just here, but the citizens have a right to want someone in there who can get things done. He was voted in, he's been given the chance. He hasn't impressed that much and anyone who has a problem with other's opinion, so much so that they call names, is just not worth the space they are taking up.

Nobody said they didn't like the town, just don't like the mayor with the lack of the ability to run it. If you don't like what we have to say here, can't handle hearing others opinions, and can't carry on an adult conversion without acting like a two year old by calling names, then you leave.
How childish it is for you to get on a public board and make false statements about a person, simply becasue you do not like them, or you are a nut that fell from the tree.

This is not about a difference of opinions, this is about YOU, GUEST, getting on a public board and LYING...thats right, you are a LIAR....and a stupid one at that.

You see, some of us have common sense. If a business wanted to come to Dyersburg, but had to "line the pockets" of local politicans, as YOU SAY, do you not think that they would have reported it to the TBI, Fox News, State Gazette, and your favorite PARTY LINE!!!!!

Heck, even David Lanier, the most poltically powerfull man in West Tn is serving time in Federal Prision; and he was more intelligent than Bill Revell, or any other politican we have in office.

So, LIAR LIAR YOUR PANTS ARE ON FIRE.

Never said names, I said higher ups, there are more than one of those you know. I never said the mayor, i said ASK the mayor because if he was truely doing his job then he would know and be trying to do something about it.

Do you honestly think it would be made obvious? Surely you are more intelligent than that. Or maybe not... You don't go into let's say a bank one day and tell them look, i'm coming back to rob you the next day. No, that wouldn't quite work would it? It's called corruption for a reason. Things are going on under the table. If a business wants to come to town but it's going to need work done to the property that they want to get it business ready. Well instead of the city spending the little bit of money, knowing they will get lots more back than they spent in tax revenue alone from that business probably in the first year or two, they tell the business no we aren't going to do it. Then a few weeks, months, down the road, someone who knows someone and can cushion that pocket wants their properties set up and zoned for business so that their property value sky rockets. Then that property just sits there because it's not where the businesses want to be. Yeah it happens.

I have decided that it's a good a thing for people like you, the few supporters of the mayor on here, to continue with the petty childish actions. You know why? You are here to represent the mayor and you are obviously just making him look even worse because i just noticed the change in the poll percentage. He is starting to drop from what he was. We keep this up until election time, we can drop him off the charts all together. So continue on....

Gonna make you look stupid again here GUEST. I don't live in Dyersburg, and cannot vote, and dont't really even have a dog in the fight.

The dog I am kicking is YOU GUEST, cause you are a LIAR and I have called you out publically.

It is people like YOU GUEST, who give topix a bad name. You want to get on these boards and just flat out lie for whatever reason. Maybe you don't like Holden or Dyersburg, or any of the local politicans; maybe you are off your meds, or just maybe you suffer from penis envy - but for whatever reason, you have lied and been caught in the act.

good question and i think many would say it does not appear to have done much. i have several friends who work for the city who tell me that dyersburg was in bad shape when holden took over and that he has dyersburg back in the black, and no tax increases. i guess that is pretty good since our national economy has hit bottom.
