Kirby is my cousin. He was killed in a motorcycle wreck yesterday. His daughter's 2nd birthday was a couple of days ago and her birthday party was supposed to have been today. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his parents and his wife and children (Kirby only had one biological child but his wife's son was just like his own).

A Soldier

There is discipline in A Soldier
you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier
you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in A Soldier
you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier
that he will not compromise.
There is something in A Soldier
that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier
that beats from his heart.
A Soldier isn't a title any man
can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man
buried deep inside of you.
A Soldier's job isn't finished after
an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier
even while he sleeps.
A Soldier serves his country first
and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what
comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian -
I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier
remember what they do.
A Soldier is the reason our land
is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave
protecting you and me.
If you are A Soldier -
I am saying this to you.....
Thank God for what YOU do!

Ssgt Weaver, he was a great face and all I knew of the Air Force. He believed in what he did, and loved his loved family and country. God be with him and his family.

I am the US Army Recruiting Station Commander in Martin, Tn. I met Weaver when I took over the station in October of 2008. He would come into the office and we would chat about things and I had a great deal of respect for him and the professional way that he conducted business. The last time he was in my office was Thursday. He was excited about his new motorcycle and we talked about fishing.I am extremely sad for his family and my prayers go out to his family.

I also worked in the Army Recruiting Station next to Ssgt Weaver, he and I loved to joke and pick fun at things together. I will now remember Thursday when we walked into my office with a banana in his hand and sat down in front of my desk and asked me if I rode motorcycles I told I had never rode one, but I rode 4 wheelers. We talked about fishing and our families. We used to talk about one another and cut each other down, all out of friendly fun. When I heard I was shocked, he was a very professional Airman who cared more about people than a recruiting number. I put 2 people in the Army he could not put in the Air Force, because he looked at what was best for the people he worked with. Lord, bless his family and be with him. I know a man that stood for so much will stand with him.
