Why did the sheriff make an announcement several months ago that they were 'almost' ready to make an arrest in the Karen Swift murder then leave everyone hanging? If he don't know - he needs to say so, he shouldn't torture the family and friends! It's got to be one of two things...he either knows and is covering for someone or he wants everyone to think he knows something but don't have a clue....I will be so glad when election time comes...we need a sheriff with balls!!!

Once again it isn't up to the sheriff anymore. He has turned it over to the DA and a special grand jury. It is up to the DA to make the move now with the evidence that they have...

I agree that it is a COLD case. There will never be an arrest in this case. COVER UP!

If it is, then blame it on the DA, because it is in their hands...

Good grief, can you ever read? How can I doubt him, when he has already done his job... can't you read this comment that I copied and pasted? Quit turning things around and twisting them. Never once I said in this comment, that I doubted him.

If the DA hasn't moved then it's because he doesn't have enough evidence. He has probably told the sheriff this & told him to get more.

No need in trying to bring a case to a grand jury if it won't result in an indictment.

Well what happened with the Grand Jury? Either they voted to indict or not. If it hasn't been taken to the grand jury the DA isn't doing his job. it is starting to smell fishy. you folks in the area ought to be screaming bloody murder because you still have a killer living among you.

The sheriff said that there will be an arrest, but first the special grand jury has to indict someone. It is up to the DA to get that SGJ together... then the arrest.

I think it's strange that when this stuff happens elsewhere, generally its splashed all over the news, there's pictures and interviews and arrests and statements made by police and the accused and the families and all sorts of information being released to the public and updates and all that. In this case, nothing, barely a whisper. What gives?

It is Dyer County!!! A very political place. It is who you know and who you are. Money talks here. If your not in the political group not a good place to be. But they are right it is up to the DA to prosecute and to bring it up to the grand jury also. It is left up entirely to him and if he doesnt want to thats it. Do I think that is right no but that is the way it is. And I agree the FBI should be here for more than one reason.

I have watched this case from overseas, how can a case with so many leads fizzle out to nothing, I work in law enforcement and would have wanted to have done the right thing and proved to the community that we had the case solved - why so long

Well, if it's not up to the sheriff, then why has he been lying all this time? He shouldn't be saying there will be an arrest if it's out of his hands....he needs to enjoy sitting on his thumb and keep his mouth shut!!!..hopefully he will be voted out of office and SOMEONE will solve this case!!!!

I done told you, that he and the TBI is done investigating. He is done until the indictment comes in. Then he will have to arrest the woman that done it... this last sentence is JMO! Well, call your local DA's office and ask them what the hold up is. That would be Bevins!
