I wish they would tear the whole mall down and turn it into a truck stop. That's the only thing that makes sense. The tax revenue from a truck stop would dwarf current tax revenues.

We don't have a mall. The large building that is more than half empty which only houses a few department and jewelry stores and a couple of eating places does not a mall make.

The only reason I would go into that mall is if I HAD to have something from Radio Shack and couldn't wait to order it online.

That happens once every couple of years. Shut it down...please.

Grow like Jackson has? LMAO.

The leadership in Dyersburg does not want Dyersburg to grow. I know it sounds weird to people who don't know, but it is the truth. There are people who like BFE small towns with nothing to do and these are the type of people that Dyersburg attracts and why young people fight and scratch like dogs and cats to get out of it as soon as they can. Dyersburg's function is that of a retirement community. Anyone under 65 is trapped for one reason or another.

You are so right, our children have nothing to do. I wish I had never seen this place but like you said people get trapped here for one reason or another. But Dyersburg is dying. They dont want it to grow but they want the money and officials high paychecks so they expect a few people to pay it by raising taxes, prices at the stores, and utilities.

We have never had what I call a mall in Dyersburg. Yes it was better at one time and better than nothing. But I dont know if it is poor management or what but it has never been like other cities. It should have grown by now but instead it is always empty. There is a need for it and people come from across the river to shop (they dont have any where to shop) and that should help us. They need to lower their rent so they can fill that place up and work on volumn instead of trying to make it all on one place. Then you have our taxes so high in Tennessee and Mo. is lower so people get what they can over there. They are charged so much rent out at our mall they have to keep their prices high to make it, so people tend to go to Jackson where you can get better bargins (or more for your money).

If I plan to do any real shopping I'll make the trip to Jackson because it's well worth the ride. Dyersburg does keep getting smaller and smaller when it comes to decent places to shop and eat, but, if you need to find God or drugs Dyersburg is the place to be.

Well the reason Sweet Peppers closed is because: Sandy Herron that was co-owner of the mall owned Sweet Peppers and since they sold the mall he was gonna have to start paying some of that High Rent and he said He would Never Do That... Go Figure...
