Dustin, your tattoo was a cover-up/rework. In the state of TN it's legal to have a cover-up at the age of 16.

I tattoo from home all the time, its a good way to get some extra spending money...
I dont have a "license" either, but that doesnt make my work dodgey, and im extremely anal when it comes to sterilisation and contamination...
I did my apprenticeship, worked in 3 shops since, I think you'll find a lot of tattooists do this time to time, and a lot of "licensed" shops also do shonky work and dont pay much attention to cleanliness too...

WHATS SAD TO ME IS WHEN PEOPLE GET ON THIS TOPIX AND ARE SO CHILDISH AS TO TALK ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES BUSINESS. MAYBE IF YOU WERE WITH YOUR CHILD AND NOT ON THIS SITE SHE WOULDNT HAVE DONE IT. AND PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE WHO DO WORK IS TERRIBLE. TELL TELL TELL. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE GETTING A TAT THEN TAKE IT UP WITH THAT PERSON AND NOT MAKE IT EVERYBODY ELESES BUSINESS. STOP GOSSIPPING...

I just recently got a tattoo kit and I do very good work. I am 17 and just bc somebody doesn't like tattoos doesn't mean your child can't. Just let them get it they should be smart enough to make sure its a pretty packaged needle and nozzle. I have a sanitizer called green soap and it sterilizes everything. I clean everything 2 times b4 I do work and if they don't like my work its free. I don't do free tattoos BC I have to buy ink but don't judge on your child's style. Your not getting the tattoo so get over your preppy ass self.

How do you think most people start tattooing? Nobody really goes to an apprentice first time, they sit at home and they practice till they know at least how to use the machine!

My 16 year old daughter came home from spending a night at a friends house and had a pitifull tattoo on her foot. Her friends uncle put it on her and I absolutly did not give permission for this and I do not allow tattoos in my home. I called the police and wrote a statement. Hopefully charges will be filed. I also called the health department and talked to some guy and he stated that theres a new law that if any person gets caught tattooing out of there home or tattooing with out a license or apprenticeship then it is a felony, especially on a minor. Lets put all the unlicensed so called tattoo artist name on here so I can take it to the health department so that maybe we can prevent this from happening again.

wow.... so much poo flung in here its rediculous. the comment about "home tattoo artist, re-use needles, period" is a blatant opinion. if you knew half of what your talking about, you would know you can get a pack of 50 quality needles, sealed in sterilized eo.g. gas, with dated expirations, individually packaged delivered to your door for $10. you can also get sterilized individually wrapped plastic tips in the same quanity, for way less. alchohol is used for cleaning the skin in the area thats gonna be tattooed. vitamin a and d ointment is used to sooth the skin, and protect the skin during inking. tincture of green soap is also easily obtainable, for pennys, and is a surgical grade soap. gun slips, cord slips and disposable rubber gloves are also a commodity that can be had for pennys also delivered to your door. i home tattoo, and have been for years now. theres only 2 things illegal about it,, 1 tattooing a minor, 2 tattooing for a profit. if its a non profit hobby, and done in a room approved for washdown, it is 100% legal with a bloodbourne pathogens license. my home setup is cleaner than 90% of any shop you could walk into including a $2000 autoclave. my work has appeared in numerous tattoo magazines. am i gonna release my name? hell no, not the way you illiterate idiots are throwing accusations around, blindly, and on pure opinion, biasedness, and miseducation. to the OP your daughters decision directly reflects your upbringing of her, end of story. this is the age of fake ID's, ever consider that issue? like stated before, maybe you should be more aware of your daughters whereabouts, and activities at 16 years old.

Unlicensed tattoo shop boogie nitez. 9 times out of 10 there will be drug activity going on up there and my wife had to go back to get an infected implant piercing cut out of her lip cause the piercing artist evidently did not know what he was doing so he (the owner)asked for my wife's number to call her when their supposedly new piercing artist got there. We'll after getting it cut out he continues calling trying to pick her up ( if you know what I mean) knowing she's got a husband and after we done told him to chill out. She is fixing to have to file a harassment complaint. Would never recommend that place to anyone

April Mcallister use to do them out of her home or anywhere that she could find to do them...and she has to be one of the nasties females this side of the river. Her tats are bad and for a while she would post pictures of that crap she calls art on facebook. She has taken all the pictures down now but I bet if you message her and tell her you heard she does them and offered her 100 bucks she would try and meet up with you.
YOU BEAT ME TO IT!!!
I was fixing to read through these post and say April Mcallister. And I was going to also say how nasty she is..and the people that she so called works on are just as nasty for letting her do the work. Or their just plan stupid. One look at her and ugh just yuck!!! I would never let her tat me. If anyone wants to see how nasty she is all they have to do is look at her Facebook pictures and see how gross she is. She actually will post pictures of her tats on her wrist/hands and you can clearly see the dirt on her skin. OMG! It's just bad.

I own a shop, been tattooing for over 15 years, never tattooed or pierced any1 who was under 18.
I have apprentices here, and all tattoo shops require all apprentices to tattoo free of charge, and must have a portfolio and clientele b4 they can work in our booth, meaning an apprenticeship is only good when a individual is at a shop, once tbey leave there is no longer an apprenticeship license, technically there is no apprenticeship license at all....its just a title given out.
I have apprentices who tattoo for free at their homes n I encourage them to hone their skills before tbey take a work station here.
I even tattoo at my friends homes as gifts to them for birthdays and what not.
Not licensed artists is the problem, unknowledged tattooists are.
That guy who tattooed your daughter was wrong, plus why was he hanging out with the girls at an all girls sleep over?
Press charges on him for the tattooing without consent not just cause he has no license.
That is how ALL artists learn, a school doesnt teach you to tattoo, it teaches fundamentals....people still flunk out because 2 weeks is not long enough to master such skills.

wow what happened to america, land of the free, if you are an adult 18 or older and you choose to have some non licensed tattoo artist do work on you, that is completly and utterly your choice, so why you vulters are reporting every person you know who does tattoos from home, thats just disturbing, this just shows how corrupt our government has gotten, and power hungry, and all you twats are just following your orders like little pupps, you guys arent free, you people are controlled, its ridiculous how the government can tell us what to do with our bodies now a days, i say if you want a tattoo from someone, no matter where it is, that is your decision, if its bad, well, its your own damn fault, no one elses, thats just the choice you as a person have to live with. seriously ridiculous.
