i could not agree more with bedford's comments above. Those who feel astray, let down by the system, as cogs in the machine which oppresses all of us, let us read Voltaire and rise - yes RISE - in a self empowered fashion. let us not ask what the system can do for us; let us reshape the system. how many is ready to move?

My claim has been in pending since I applied on January 14. My company closed. When I received the determination of benefits they included two part time jobs I had throughout the year. One also closed but they other I had for 4 months and left. It was not my decision to include these jobs and I was wondering if that was the cause of the pending. My other coworkers at my main job that closed do not have pending claims which leads me to think it may be one of these two. I called one of them and they have not been contacted by the Department of labor. I am trying to line some interviews up but need income to get to them and to pay my bills. Our company gave us 4 days notice that they were closing and no severance after 3 years. I have never been fired or left a job on bad terms so I don't understand why my claim is pending.

I filed for my PA unemployment on December 3rd. Received my debit card & confirmation papers a few days later. On Dec 10th I got a paper in the mail stating that I needed to call UC to review a few things. I was finally able to get through to them on the 14th. I spoke to a lady and she cleared up whatever questions they had for me, and told me to file my first bi weekly claim that upcoming Sunday on the 16th. I've been filing every 2 weeks like I am supposed to and still have not received any payments yet. When I check my claim status online it says my initial claim has been processed and to keep filing my bi-weekely claims as normal. Shouldn't I of received payment or some sort of paper saying if I was indeed confirmed or denied? So frustrating! I've even email my local State representative but have not heard back from him yet. Ugh, I hate Pennsylvania.

Chris I feel your frustration. It took me over a week to get someone on the phone. I thought I was going to lose it as no one responds to e-mails and the automated system is useless when you need to sort out an issue. I got someone today who said my pending status has been removed this afternoon and my check will be released tomorrow. However I don't trust them. I am afraid to believe this nightmare may finally be over. I hope that you are able to sort out your claim. I do find ( at least in NY) that if you call late in the day 4-5 you have a better chance of getting someone on the phone.

If you all spent as much time looking for a job as you do trying to collect unemployment you'd be employed.

Well "Idiots" you are on here. Why aren't you working? I guess Idiots fits you. People are on Unemployment because they lost their job. It does not mean they are not looking for one. People have bills to pay and children to feed and not everyone has a two person income. Losing ones home or having their internet or phones turned off does not make job hunting possible. Why don't you get off of this unemployment posting boards and get a job? Most people have worked for most of their lives, paid taxes etc. and have earned the right to collect in times of need. That is why unemployment benefits exist. Of course I know you are just an annoying troll.

My husband was laid of on New Years Eve! He applied for benefits, and luckily, he started a new job on Jan. 30th. I'm totally convinced at this point that they will not be paying him any unemployement for the month that he was out of work...looking very hard for work (obvious in that he is now working). Sad thing is, we still need the money. Sure, I was able to get a couple of payments deferred, but that is a huge chunk of income we did without in January, and we still need to catch up! I'm doing my best to keep everyone at bay to wait for their payments, but this is tough. My husband still has this faith that they will pay for the time he was out of work, and I told him, "Honey, they are going to see that you are working now, and say screw you! That is why they take so long...that hopefully you will find a job before they pay out anything, and then they can use that as excuse to not pay a dime...forget that you still have to catch up on all of your bills!"

I believe it all depends on the company you worked for. They might be the cause of the long delay. I just filed mine so we shall see how long it takes.

There are jobs wrote: Look at the third post. Been collecting since 2008. Three years and you can't find a job, that's system abuse..Nobody will hand you the perfect job. There are lots of jobs. Maybe not exactly what you want, but you have to walk before you run. Some people are spoiled and think they are too good to take a job at less money than they made after working someplace for 20 yrs. While you are on the computer reading "Topix" you could be looking for a job instead of looking in the mailbox. Man or woman up..get out of your pajamas and get looking..Unemployment and Disability, the most abused government resources. Do you have a disability? If not you don't know what your talking about. This is coming from a veteran injured in Afghanistan. Fighting for your freedom. Messed up my back and now I can't get a job cause I'm disabled. So yeah I'm going to collect unemployment and disability. I earned that right. If you never been in the shoes of people that need help, then F off.

I was laid off 12/17/12 with a 2 week severance. My first official week of unemployment was the week ending 1/05/13. I still have not received a check -"it's being processed." According to my calculations, this has been 7 weeks!:(

Yes, this process of waiting for your money can be frustraing and lack of jobs. We can get upset over the people who gave up , collecting their money. Iam not mad at them. I'd saved in advance, downgraded my lifestyle, paying off or selling things , after seeing people in my old job getting fired for petty mess, who have been there a long time and feeling sick from all the high stress. This was the best thing to happened to me. I rested for a week from working every shift under the sun. I'd decided to go back to school to learn something different and collect my money due to me. I felt weird in school at first, after working half my life and dealing with youngsters old enough to be my kids, turned into the sweetest voices of encourqement through out this process. I was told by the unemployment about job training and certain schools are approved. One is eligible for a certain period of time to collect. Frankly, could'nt see myself staying home doing nothing to help myself. The one thing learned so far, one is never too old to start again. I am still struggling to a certain extent , but I don't feel sick anymore. I hope my testimony helps at least one person.
