The Neon Moon Dance Hall is moving to the old Loafer's Lounge Building on Highway 51 South. The building has been completely remodeled. There will never be a Beer Permit issued to that facility. They are too close to the Church. Family fun and entertainment. Bring your family. Opening night is December 1.

Why are they moving?
The rent went up.
What will happen now if they put a joint in there next to the Church. That may be what will happen next.
a beer license can be permitted if they they apply before the church moves in.
The beer license can not be issued for the building of the old Loafer's Lounge.
They will never sell beer. They never intended to sell beer. The church will hate to see them move since they don't sell beer, but what if the next people to move in run a joint.

If you like to dance and don't like to drink and want to go to a nice clean place, you won't mind the drive. The band is the best anywhere. There is a nightclub behind the NEON MOON now.
Your right there is a NIGHTCLUB there not a RUN DOWN TRASHY BAR. Ths difference between those two is one place is a nice dance club and the other is a pick up spot. Do you go to a nightclub and play darts, i didn't think so. I personally dont go to either one but I work with ppl that talk about Beatty's(this may not be the correct spelling) so I know what goes on there. This is just my opinion and I have heard a lot of great things about the NEON MOON but i just dont want it to turn into a place that kids can no longer come to and then no one comes anymore and it shuts down just like everything else around here.Plus if Greg was trying to get a beer permit before then apparently he wants it to be a bar because where there's beer there's always gonna be a lot of ppl and they will draw a bigger crowd. So my only opinion is if you need to move look for a nicer area. |
Ok, first of all Greg didn't try to get a beer permit. He was pressured into it by the owners of the current building, so that if the Neon was to shut down or move then the next people to purchase or rent the building would be grandfathered in. Holy Hills church bought the building next to it, and once a church moves in you can no longer apply for one. Second there is already a church in the proximity of the new building so they would not even be allowed to obtain a beer permit. So guest like someone posted above, there will not EVER be beer or any kind of alcohol served at the Neon Moon. |

people we need this here in Dyersburg. there are people who come from Paris, Lake county just to mention a couple. People who like to line dance and have fun or just good ole two stepping can have a lot of fun. People from Dyersburg and Newbern went out of town before greg and Johnny started this. I have been and you could'nt be treated any better. If you don't want to dance the band is really great!! I hope that the people of Dyersburg will support this. People from other towns already are. They must have done a really good job at the fair because people come just to see the band that was at the fair. It is a great place for all ages.

What exactly do you mean by "that part of town"????? |

To the guest that keeps downing the move of our entertainment venue let me attempt to enlighten you. As it has been stated countless times since the beer permit situation came about, we were forced by the owners of the building to obtain the permit, we never had any intentions to make the Neon Moon into a bar or night club. The Neon has been a family oriented entertainment venue since the beginning and as long as we advertise the Neon as a family entertainment venue it will remain so. As for the location, we can't control the businesses around us, only what occurs inside our dance hall and even there is a bar across the street we will alway enforce the non alcohol environment and kids will have the same opportunity to enjoy the new building as the present one. If you are unhappy with the move we regret that and will miss you there but we will move on without you.

I think anywhere you move that has a good clean atmosphere and the same great band is where I want to go. The other business's surrouding the new location choose to sell alcohol, that should not be any reflection on the Neon Moon. I have gone there since it opened and they have always had good clean fun for all. The beer permit application gave them bad publicity which was not the owners fault. I think when the Neon moves someone will put a nightclub in that location. I hate it for the church. The owners of the Neon Moon never intended to sell beer. They would not have hurt the church at all.

As for your comment.... I enjoy Neon Moon. It is a great place with friendly people. And from time to time I enjoy drinking a beer. And about Beedie's why dont you find out instead of judging the book by its cover. It might not be the best looking business but people are friendly. The owners are great. They do not let things go on there that shouldn't. And you can pick someone up anywhere not just there. And also. The owners are very well liked in this community and great business people. They own other businesses. They give back to the community in many ways. Beedie is a first responer (last i checked thats a job you dont get paid for) and we appreciate him for his time and effort. His wife is a nurse at the hospital and if I remember correctly - was in state gazette last year for nurse of the year. So dont judge unless you personally know. You dont have to go there if you dont want to. Get your facts straight. ANd as far as the bar behind Neon Moon now. Thats a meat market always has been- always will be and more illegal stuff goes on there than anywhere I have ever heard of. |

No one said anything about the owners. I really could care less about what they do for a living or even how much money they make.My point is that it's a run down place and the Neon Moon should try to find a better building than over there. Plus when Loafers Lounge was there I felt the same way and yeah that was a happening place but that used to be the roughest little hole in the wall joint behind it and to me it still looks the same.Thats my opinion and we will see how long the Neon Moon stays open once they move.

It's your choice to go to an alcohol free facility or to go where alcohol is served. The Neon Moon is alcohol free and family oriented. Don't run down the area where other businesses are. There are good people who go to the Neon Moon as well as Beedies. If you want to dance and hear good music and take your kids. Bring them on. The Neon Moon is a great place to have fun. Please don't run anyone down because you do not like the location.

When it was the Loafer's lounge, they had a beer permit and hasn't Neon moon been given a beer permit not to long ago. |
The old Loafer's Lounge will never be given a permit. It is too close to the Church. The grandfather clause or 6 month rule is out since there has not be a continuous permit at that location. As state previously the Neon Moon got a beer permit only for the owners of the building. They knew and the Board of Alderman knew they were not intending to sell beer. They never have sold a beer. They are now moving and someone will have to move in the old building and get a permit within 6 months or the building will be worthless and no permit will ever be issued if it lasped past 6 months.
