Good. It's hard enough trying to drive down Lake Road as it is. Of course if the speed limit were actually enforced it'd be different.

We are not getting an Olive Garden/Red Lobster combo restaurant! Are you a complete idiot? Big dine in chains don't combine...what...the left side of the building is Italian and the right side is seafood? Also, the airport isn't big enough to support the size of aircraft used to deliver seafood for the Red Lobster company. I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT

What you guys have to understand is that the combining of the two is just a trial that is being tested and I'm sure that Dyersburgs market isn't a test site! Also, it's a testing phase for the company...so when it doesn't work out...it's gone! Like I said, big chains don't combine

then why did they buy the lot in front of wal mart? why would that company spent a bunch of money on a lot if they did not intend to build on it?

The airport does effect food when it comes to Red Lobster because I looked into bringing the franchise here almost 10 years ago personally. They discussed the population and average household income. They also contacted the local airport to discuss runway size and weight accomodations for load bearing aircraft as to not cause damage to the ashphalt on the runway. The representative informed me that our local airport was not equipped to handle the freight and it would have to be sent to Memphis and then transported by truck from there!! As you might understand...that cuts into profit margin!!! Now you know the rest of the story!!! So you get your facts straight sir!

Now, to whoever discussed the "then why did they buy the lot in front of Walmart" comment! I never said that they didn't. I just stated that the franchise's are owned by the Darden group who also owns Longhorn Steakhouse and a few others. They are trying the combo idea to cut back on the money spent and allow smaller markets to be able to have these restaurants. The problem is that these are just trial runs for the corporation to see if they are going to be profitable. If they do not pass the test then the plug will be pulled and the franchise will be no more. Therefore, the combo store will close. Facts are facts and there is nothing you can argue about when it is backed by documentation!!!! You guys have a nice day

They fly the big planes in all the time to supply the seafood for Long John Silvers. The one for Captain D's had some problems and hasn't been able to deliver for a while. Everyone knows you can only ship seafood by plane. Fish are picky and like to travel first class.

How does Jackson have a Red Lobster then? Their airport is not much bigger than Dyersburg. Plus if the they can fly into Jackson wouldn't be just a matter of trucking it in from there.

I'm sure that Jackson's airport has had the upgrades necessary to have food flown in when needed over the past 10-12 years or so. However, I'm guessing that they might have had to fly into Memphis for awhile as well. Jackson's airport is much better equipped than our regional airport and always has been. They do fly some small commercial aircraft through there and Dyersburg cannot and never has been able to. All I'm saying is what was reported to me. The franchise in 2000 required a minimum of $250,000 cash on hand, proof of minimum $250,000 line of credit and $500,000 in liquid assets to be considered. They then required that you provide proof of adequate population to support the franchise and adequate routes of food/freight transportation which included airport specifications. You also had to provide lease or ownership space available to meet corporate standards for construction. If all could not be met then you did not get selected for a franchise.
