Have the rates gone up at the electric company again? This is ridiculous my bill is 3 times more than last month and nothing is different. There is no way I can pay a bill like this. If the rates have not changed that I am aware of then there has to be a mistake. A big mistake. Let me hear from anyone that knows if there has been a change. Thank you..........

You must have electric heat because my bill was actually a little lower. I guess because we've been using the tablets a lot more than the PC.

Try looking at the damn fuel cost on there. Im calling them today. Mine was 98 dollars, my moms was 34 dollars and daughter was 8o something. My daughter and i live right around the corner from each other. So why in the hell is the damn fuel charge that high or why is everyone paying different? It takes 5 damn dollars to go to town to pay my damn bill. Why are they chargin every person different is the question?
The fuel surcharge is based on a percentage of the amount of electricity you used. It's charged by TVA and refers to the fuel that's burned to generate electricity. It has nothing to do with Dyersburg Electric.

Be sure to look at it closely...they have a tendency to put the fuel charge on the wrong line. Regardless I don't know why they even bother to separate it, it's all part of your total bill and you have to pay it....or else. There is no need to even bother breaking it down, I just look at the bottom line, grit my teeth, and pay it.

my tva fuel charge was 194.0o that us crazy another thing if they notice your bill is unusually high why don't they call you because you don't know tip you get your bill and your half way into the next bill. And they don't want to help you out if you did have a problem. The water company adjusts your bill if you fix the problem .

My bill used to be the same way, high bill and always a different fuel charge. Someone told me to ask them about levelized billing and I did. I've never been happier. I signed up and they accepted me. My bill went from being 180 to 210 a month to 98 to 107 a month. It's a great program. What they do is base your bill off of a percentage from the last 12time months. I hope this information was helpful to you.

Obama promised that he was going to put coal companies out of business if elected and he's doing it. He said that under his policies "prices would necessarily skyrocket". Gas prices at the pump are over $1.50 a gallon higher than when he took office.

He promised we'd pay what Europeans pay and he's doing it. Maybe those idiots that voted for him will learn someday.

Not really. We have a major promblem but cant find out what it is. The electric company says something is wrong but what do you do. I think they need to put in a new meter. We have been here 25 years and never had a bill this high NEVER. They said at this rate we are ging to use 900.00 per month. I cannot pay it. They came out and dont know what it can be. I had my unit checked. This is crazy!

It's simple. Obama has forced many coal mines to close and we'll never have another open under him. No new nuclear plants have been built in this country in over 30 years and Obama said that we should be paying what Europeans pay (to make us use less he figures break us).

He said when he was running in 2007- 2008 what he would do and now he's doing it. Why so surprised? We tried to warn people but most wouldn't listen.

TVA reports $2.58B in revenues in 1st quarter 2013

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.(AP)-- The Tennessee Valley Authority reported a net loss of $245 million on operating revenues of $2.58 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 as electricity sales were flat and fuel expenses increased.

TVA said in a news release Tuesday that their quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows that total electricity sales increased by a slight 0.2 percent for the three-month period ending Dec. 31, 2012 and total operating expenses were 4 percent higher than the same period last year, driven by a 24 percent increase in fuel expense.

Operating revenues were $11 million higher compared with last year, due to an $82 million increase in fuel cost recovery and a $14 million increase in other revenue sources. However that was partially offset by an $85 million decrease in base revenue. Also the utility had $111 million increase in expenses from nuclear refueling outages in the first quarter.

TVA said that as the utility transitions to a time-of-use rate structure with its customers, it may result in reduced overall effective base rates in certain periods.

TVA proposes peak-use surcharge; seeks bigger rate when demand highest

If you turn on an air conditioner on a summer afternoon, it costs the utility more to produce the electricity than if you did the same thing on an autumn night. But you would pay the same rate for the electricity.

The Tennessee Valley Authority says it wants customers across its seven-state service area to feel the cost difference in the future. Starting in October, that could mean changes in how Memphis customers are billed. The utility hasn't worked out the details.

The TVA is talking with Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division and the other 155 utilities in its system about a gradual move toward "time-of-use metering," said Michael Hynes, a TVA vice president...

It all goes back to Obama deliberately pushing energy prices up. Eventually you won't be able to use wood-burning stoves even though electricity will be so high people will freeze b/c it's so high.

Where are the same people who attacked Bush when gas prices at the pump were over $3.00 a gallon? They are strangely silent right now...
