Here we go again!! Someone doesn't agree with something that they probably don't know the whole story on and our school system gets bashed. Finley and Holice Powell are both awesome schools. Usually in this circumstance, it's a parent that either misunderstood what happened or more likely just wants to start trouble. If you want to really help, why not try volunteering at your child's school or even being a substitute teacher? I wonder how long that would last.......??

Hey stupid, Teachers don't have knives, kitchen workers do. Instead of running your mouth why didn't you go ask one of the drug heads in the kitchen to do it or was you scared. Stupid is as stupid does.

The new child pick up policy has cars backed up on the main highway. Somebody is going to get killed because of this. Then the county school system will get a nice law suit for causing the wreck. Some one at the school board better look into this soon. Or we the tax payers are going to have to pay for a law suit.

Boy there are a lot of teachers on topix. One comment pointing out the problems that a school has and the damage controllers come in in force. That wont work, everybody knows your bs, and even if they don't talk about it on here, they are talking about it other ways. The jig is up, our kids cannot be brainwashed at school, the parents cant be brainwashed, your brainwashing has failed. We know much more then you think about what goes on at school and we have irrefutable evidence of hypocrisy and impropriety. Exposure is inevitable unless changes come. There are places where some employees just don't "fit". You work for us and our children, you might aught to start acting like it.(This is not for the teachers that really do a good job, and don't play the stupid games. We know who you are too.)

Actually, the traffic is a LOT better than when school started. It flows quite well once school is dismissed. The problem with traffic being in the highway is usually because parents start lining up before noon and refuse to get in a certain line.(there are three lines). Who cares what line you are in?? The staff is always very watchful and put safety first, but not all who pick up are.
The highway dept., school board, and sheriff dept have all assessed the situation, and think its working really well. It all boils down to someone just wanting to start something negative and NEVER finding the positive in anything. It's a group effort, which includes parents, as well as community members.

Only reason there would be a wreck is because arrogant people like you who go around the parents instead of waiting for the traffic to clear! I don't see how a still line of parents waiting patiently to get their children is going to cause a wreck! There are ways around the line, maybe you should detour on one of them! Quit being a cry baby over this but you grown up pants on and get over it! They started doing it like this to protect the children ....but I guess you getting around the traffic quicker is more important, right?

There is always something people dont like about every school , We should all try to help make things better . The teachers have an important job to do,teaching our kids in order to have a good life .Thats whar we hope for . If we could all work together, help educate our kids and help one another to make our schools better .No,im not a teacher !!!

Lets get back to Hollis Powell, worst food in the county .Although most of the cooks need to be drug tested for sure ,they have the best teachers in the school system .My hats off to the teachers and aides ,good job!!!

For the people saying we need to move our children, you are incorrect. That is a solution obviously offered by a bad teacher or administrator. We need to move the bad teachers and other staff out and down the road along way. The taxpayers should not have to deal with crappy service. You work for me and my children. Get a clue.

Teachers have no patients with children . I have a child with a loose tooth in the front. He was trying to eat an apple yesterday and could not bite and was trying to piece it out with his fork and the teacher sure enough called him out on it. dont do that you will get stuck she said. Why didnt she offer to cut it up? The principle is standing like a vulture ready to shout at a child for the least little thing. You cant bring your child a coke for lunch but the school sells energy drinks. County school system need to terminate some teachers. and principles. If they cant stand the heat then they need to get out of the kitchen. I am talking about 1st graders here They are not supposed to act like 20 year olds Whats up Holice Powell get a grip.
You knew he had a loose tooth. Why didn't you cut it up for him? Blame the teacher for your laziness?

If you have such a big problem with your child's school, that you feel the need to disrespect them on the Internet, then take them out of that school. There are plenty of schools in this area to send them to. I don't see why you have to talk negatively about it on the Internet and whine and cry. Set an example for your child and GROW UP!
I agree and the same goes for people who sit around running our country down. Those people need to set an example for their children as well.

Move to Orange Mound and enroll your child in public school there. I bet you'll think the Dyer County School system is top notch after that experience.

I can't believe that people are still bitching about Finley school. The problem principal was removed back in June, when Dr. Watkins retired. She let the community and parents rule that school. Nothing was done out of safety or concern for the children. Whatever kept the parents happy. If you want to whine and complain about something, fuss about how she let that mess continue while she was "retired on the job." She didn't care. She just rode out her last days. You obviously can't see what a tough job the new principal has had trying to FIX all the problems out there and get everything up to code and in line with every other school in the county. She's just trying to make Finley the same as (and even better than) the other schools. GET OVER IT!

It is now politically correct in the USA to be a follower and not have a critical opinion of anything. Correction and contrary options are the foundations of scientific research and advancement of a free society. The Arab spring is the result of people who were tired of being told to get over it.

I think both Dr. Watkins and Dr. Tyler are great principals. I don't really like the way the traffic is in the afternoon, but the students are being dismissed from school the safest way possible. They don't have a lot of space and parking to work with. The staff is working to get the students to the cars safely. I have never been to another school where that many staff members are working to supervise the students to get them safely in the cars. Not to mention the ones working in the gym that we don't see. The enrollment at Finley has grown over the years and I think they are doing a great job with what they have to work with.

Ask any kid and they will tell you the cafeteria food isn't as good as it was. You may thank Ms. Obama for the restrictions
imposed on the school lunch program. Thanks to those restrictions
lots food being thrown away. Shame, because for lots of kids the
school food is about all they get.

I agree. Mrs. Obama is to blame and the schools are puppets because they want the funds from the govmt. They could do what they want with the food but they are addicted to the educational food stamp EBT equivalent. The whole educational system is circling the toilet bowl, I hear everyday of more people changing to home school. We should be able to take our tax money that goes to the schools and use it for home school. I bet things would straighten out if that could pass. The worse thing about the lunches is that teachers bring whatever they choose but put unreasonable restrictions on the children. Hypocrisy its finest. Freedoms are being pulled from our children. There is no such thing as free speech in schools. They are brainwashed by the system to believe lies. Lets expose the BS to our children so they know the truth of the situation.

I can assure you the lunch restrictions arent put in place by the teachers, principals or the school system!
