Teachers have no patients with children . I have a child with a loose tooth in the front. He was trying to eat an apple yesterday and could not bite and was trying to piece it out with his fork and the teacher sure enough called him out on it. dont do that you will get stuck she said. Why didnt she offer to cut it up? The principle is standing like a vulture ready to shout at a child for the least little thing. You cant bring your child a coke for lunch but the school sells energy drinks. County school system need to terminate some teachers. and principles. If they cant stand the heat then they need to get out of the kitchen. I am talking about 1st graders here They are not supposed to act like 20 year olds Whats up Holice Powell get a grip.

It is principal, not principle. I understand you are upset, but I wouldn't want their hands on my child's apple. It sounds like she was offering a warning to be more cautious. Also, first graders don't need cokes.

Finley is total crap. wont let them go to the bathroom. yells at them about everything! things that are absurd....my child got ask to leave the class room for saying underpants! they have a rule of no outside food yet the teachers gulp down coffee from java cafe and eat alvenos all the time. double standard. i have always loved our school until we got a new principal....everything went down hill from there. the school board is useless. a bunch of uppity snobs who think their crap doesn't stink. they dont give 2 nickles about our kids only want the prestige of having their titles. also at Finley there is a click of teachers that act like middle schoolers it is ridiculous and embarrassing. my child says they call each other on the intercom just to say i love you! they write notes on the board to each other and act like children. yet if the children act like children that's not allowed.

I went to Finley, my kids go to Finley, and let me tell you....it's always been a great school and still is! The teachers are outstanding and so is our new principal. They are very close nit and will do anything for our children. I love each and every one of them and couldn't ask for a better place for my kids to be taught. That both love their teachers to death and have exceeded our expectations. So what if they drink coffee and express their love for one another, they do great teaching the kids! Sounds, like you didn't get what you wanted or something. Stop being a sour puss and grow up, you trying to talk about the teachers acting like kids, well what do you think you look like on here lol!

Finely Elementary is a joke. Teachers are supposed to protect and teach the children, but don't. If you have a child that is repeatedly late for school, or has been absence for 20+ days a semester, wouldn't you think that they would call D.C.S.? Especially when the child's mother had been on campus on numerous occasions totally blitzed on prescription drugs?? Nothing.....they did nothing. NOT THE FIRST CALL WAS MADE. The father went to discuss the situation with the principal and she practically treated him like a criminal. THAT IS HIS CHILD, YOU IDIOT, HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING!!! Needless to say, the child no longer goes to that school and is no longer in the mothers custody. This child has went from having to attend summer session in Finley just to pass 1st grade, to now, being a star pupil and has perfect attendance. Finley sucks!! BRAVO DAD!!!!!!

Since when have they had summer session at Finley. I always thought it took place at fifth. Anyway my children go to Finley. I have had the pleasure to meet /and deal with k-5 and can honestly say the teachers there are great. .they all go above and beyond the title of teachers .don't blame these teachers for YOUR short coming.

The teachers at holice do not go above and beyond. It was a warning that a accident could occur with the fork but some assistance should have been offered. just saying. 1st graders are not going to be quiet or be still all the time.

The "short coming" came from a mother that was pilled out and not capable of getting her child to school. I "blame" the teachers and principal for not being forthcoming and giving the information to the father when he went to investigate and for not contacting authorities on a possible neglect situation. THANK GOD the child is no longer subject to this situation. We called everybody, DCS, the DA, CPS and nobody would do anything. The father TRIED to intervene and the school staff treated him terribly. When we finally got an attorney and paid over $5,000 and got emergency custody, THEN the ball got rolling. The child went to another school and is doing fantastic! Hasn't missed a day, hasn't been late for school, has NOT had lice (which seems to be a normal problem for Finley.) It's been over a year and the child is constantly winning school awards, surrounded by a family that loves and protects, and goes to a school that really cares.

Thank goodness the child is doing great.my children have been in Finley for five years. Never had a problem with them getting LICE.maybe it came from the environment in witch he was living in..I wasn't trying to step on toes here. Just I personally don't have a problem with finley.my kids moved from holice Powell. At first I thought h.p. was the best. Then seen their grades dramatically go up at Finley. Finley is home now.

If you have such a big problem with your child's school, that you feel the need to disrespect them on the Internet, then take them out of that school. There are plenty of schools in this area to send them to. I don't see why you have to talk negatively about it on the Internet and whine and cry. Set an example for your child and GROW UP!

Let me get this right all about an apple . The school has a lunch room where the workers should be cutting apples .Why would someone get on here and blame the teachers their jobs are teachingthe kids . Half the ones workingin the kitchen need to be drug tested .Thats a fact ,sure thing .Saying something to help keep a child safe is a good thing .
