Of course they have a .2 points ACT score over DC. The big difference is Dyer County makes ALL students regardless of age, sex, and race take the ACT test whereas Dyersburg picks and chooses which students they allow to take the ACT. You think they make all their African American population take the ACT at Dyersburg?!? Lol! They don't. They don't because they know that test score will drop tremendously. FACTS!!! Again it's not even a comparison. Really it's sad that Dyersburgs best is only .2 better than ALL at DC!
You may want to investigate your claim further. If Dyersburg picked their best, then the average would be far above DC. Apparently you went to DC and got a diploma, because your reading skills are lacking. Read the link from post above, carefully. Please note the percentage that score above 28 and 30. Your claim has been busted, LIAR.

If you need help, then ask a DHS grad to translate it for you. The fact is DHS ACT includes all juniors.

Another fact not in the story, more than 60% of DHS grads go to college, how many DCHS grads go to college.

Tennessee requires EVERY junior regardless of race, disability or income to take the ACT and the state pays for the test. It is not an option. Dyersburg gives it to all juniors just like Crocket, Gibson and Lauderdale.

DCHS is really the best..Not only at studies, but students.... Not much violence or drugs as the DHS students. NObody gets killed at games. Safety is a #1 prioriy at DHS. Teachers are nicer and so is the secretaries. The principal is liked NOT hated or disliked. Friendly atmosphere. GREAT food.
DCHS is the best...don't bother with the rest!

If DCHS principal is well liked, then why is TOPIX full of haters about your principal?

As far as safety and drugs, you think DCHSVdoes not have drugs or alcohol proble,s? What happened with your pro last year, or the baseball team?

You live under a rock, or just have no clue what happens.

DCHS has more administration problems than anywhere around. I hear of drugs, drinking and fighting as well.

What's really really sad is how wrong you are on so many levels. First, the difference in ACT scores is .3. Next, OF COURSE Dyersburg City Schools makes ALL students take the ACT. In fact the school pays for ALL students to take it one time a year. Then, are you seriously turning this into a racial thing???? Are you saying African Americans can't score well on the ACT? Please don't try to be politically correct and disrespectful at the same time. You know another thing that you might think is sad? In your backwards way of thinking you don't even realize you're giving the city school a compliment. I mean just think about it. The city takes it's diverse population of students and sets high expectations and believes ALL students can be successful. Then ALL of that diverse population is given the ACT. Then when those scores come back they aren't "dropped tremendously" at all. In fact they are higher than the county.

This is the STUPIDEST thing ever. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE ACT IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE. THIS IS A MANDATED TEST- REQUIRED. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about!

All Tennessee juniors are required to take the ACT test now. The problem is that the state of Tn does not say how the test has to be administered. At DHS, yes the school pays for all the juniors to take the test. BUT, DHS gives students a voucher to go take the test - which means the student had to register for the test & go to take it on a Saturday. So basically all the college bound students & high achievers are the ones taking the ACT for DHS. The low performing students don't take the test because the responsibility of registering for the test falls on them.

At DCHS though, all juniors take the ACT during the school day. DCHS test administrators give the test then. The students don't have to register themselves or provide trandportation on a Saturday. More juniors actually take the ACT st DCHS than at DHS.

The state ought to make all high schools administer the test the same way so that it is a much truer evaluation of the final scores.

As for dual credit classes, DCHS offers many more than DHS. DCHS offers Biology 1&2, English 1&2, History 1&2, Statistics, Business Applications, College Algebra, & Calculus.

My opinion, parents would rather their kids go to Dyersburg High School if they offered more dual credits. Why not offer more dual credits, look at the ACT scores. Try block schedule like DC and all the other surrounding schools.Enrollment would increase in city schools.

Actually to be precise DHS DOES Administer the test during the day to all Juniors. Then a voucher is given out to students who did not take the test during the school day. Those who did not are recorded on a list and are REQUIRED to take the test. I can account for this personally. Also, Dyersburg High School offers various Advance Placement course. Students enrolled in these courses score ABOVE the national average. I am a student at Duke University and as a recent Dyersburg High School graduate I can honestly attest that Dyersburg High School prepared me for college.
DC for sure
