I do not know when the primary care center for Veteran's will be opening up here in Morristown
but I wish I had enough medical knowledge to be able to get a part time job in the evening there myself. I would love to think I had a job helping the men and woman whom have served in the armed
forces. I know how much I enjoy delivering medicine to the elderly and I believe I would enjoy just as much working to help the Vets. I will never get a job there but it will be a good place for those lucky enough to go to work there. I am sure the benefits are good as it is a government agency.

There is another reason I am glad to see the agency come to Morristown. I have a good and dear
friend who served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He is a little on the unusual side in that he has never enrolled for medical benefits in case he ever needed the government to help if he came down with something bad. I stay on him all of the time about not being enrolled so maybe with this new agency we will soon have, I can get some of his other friends to make him "see the light." I know all to well what the VA Hospital in Johnson City did for another good friend, Tim Townsend, and he will not care one bit that I have used his name.
He is very grateful for what the hospital did for him and that was more or less, saved his life so that he is now once more a productive citizen. Each time I watch the movie, Forest Gump, and it shows Lt. Dan at his worst, I think of my friend Tim and then I say, Thank you Lord for the people at the Veteran's Hospital in Johnson City.

They should be opening in the next couple of weeks. They already have staff hired; you have to apply through the VA in Johnson City.

I think this is way past due for the vets around here. This should have been done a long time ago.I know how hard it was on my dad to run back and forth to Mnt home in Johnson city espceially when he had to go two or three days in a row.

yeah, i thought about trying to get on there after i finished nursing school. i figured since i am a vet, i could count my time in service and retire with 20, then drop to part time..but gotta get through school first..lol

I am so glad that we finally got a place close enough that our wonderful veterans don't have to spend so much time on the road just to be helped, this place should have been here years ago, but I guess the old saying "better late than never" still holds true. I get so irritated when people put down our military, because I had a brother who gave his life in the Korean war for our freedom, I know if he had made it home, he would have been very proud that he had served his country and I am proud of all our troops(male & female). God bless every veteran and those who are serving now.

This probably has nothing to do with somebody's thread but it is my way of getting
a message out to some I wish for them to read. If it upsets you then you have my
most sincere and humble apology.

ALSO, about the gathering of Topix posters and readers. It appears that it is not going to
get off of the ground. This has been very disappointing to Ex-Vol and me. I guess it was
expecting to much to do something like that but I still think it was a good idea. Nobody
would tell us if they would or would not attend so Vol and me felt as though we could not stick our
necks out to reserve a place for us. One person did recommend one place but I drove by it and
I had doubts some would have wanted to meet or eat there. SO--in order to try and make it work
out to some degree, I am going to give you my email address for you would to use it and let me
know if you might possibly visit with us at Shoney's. The address is : [email protected] The Vol and
a poster reader friend of hers, Tina and I, are going to meet at Shoney's at 7:00 AM Saturday evening. If
you think you might come, send me an email and let me know you are coming and we will be looking for you.
We might still be able to make something out of what looks like a failure. Just remember what
Yoga Berra said--"it ain't over till it is over." I don't think you will be sorry you made an effort to make a new
friend or maybe several new friends.

Yo're not a thread burier. You're a thread reviver. That's the exact opposite. If you want to bury a thread and consequently all threads under it you need to create multiple new threads.
