I've been wondering about something. There are certain religious groups who do not have tv in their homes.Apparently it is evil or wrong in Gods eyes to watch the filthy thing. So my question is,why watch internet?I know many people who literally live on the social network sites, watch tv shows, play games, gossip, date, etc. online. They have internet on their phones, they have laptops laying on the coffee table or couch for easy access.Dont say it's for business because I know for a fact that many use the internet for socializing and watching tv as i have already stated.A lot more evil on the internet than tv,so why do some of you christians who denounce tv,think its ok to watch and be on internet?Im just asking a question here. After all.Inquiry minds want to know. Please try to give an answer without being mean.thank you

My church teaches that Facebook and the Internet are as evil as television. I use Topix primarily because it is the only source for news in Dyer County.

i agree guest quote. This is just someone trying to start another argument on Topix.

I don't care what people do in their homes, in their privacy. Why do you "guest"? Are they hurting you?

Rifleman I love my privacy in my home. I don't like no one asking questions about my private life. I can't understand why anyone wants to know about this for? This may be the weirdest topix thread yet. Do you agree?

Actually I was informed MTV was a sin. I allow my children to watch MTV to get a perspective on the real world. I agree what we do in our own homes, with our bodies, sexual orientation, religous views....is noone business but those involved and each individual home:)

It was just a question, folks. It's something I've been curious about. You all are being mean just like I expected. No one has even given a straight answer on this subject. No I am not trying to start anything.Don't any of you ever wonder?I thought it was an interesting thing to talk about. And it is ones business what they do in their own home. But when a religious group tells you it's wrong to have a tv in your house but not the internet it just makes me wonder. What's the difference?

I posted above this post as guest. IMO...I didn't think your post was offensive. Maybe it cant be answered.....good question though....considering free porn is on the internet and smartphones...but not tv? Maybe for news purposes.....more information is avaliable online. Facebook is great...keeps me updated with my kids friends....funny how many parents don't realize their kids have Facebook?

Agree....tv, internet ect ect. Its in the new testament....relating to the square box found buried in the sand. Buried deep in the sand refers to closer to hell. Although satelites are closer to heaven. Tho shalt not have access to the world for it is sin....and you will burn in hell. So why can't 1st guest questions be answered....inquiring minds want to know??? It was a simple question.....ok...let me google this?

I don't know who "informed you MTV was a sin". I wouldn't allow my kids to watch the vulgar and raunchy videos.

But then TV and the internet is full of this stuff. It is up to parents to supervise their children and Christians of age are called to live a life that is holy and separated unto Christ. TV and the internet in and of themselves are not a sin, anymore than a radio. The Gospel is spread today via all three instruments so it can be a positive force! Millions in Muslim countries are able to hear the Gospel solely b/c of the broadcasts by Christian organizations. I love Thru the Bible radio Network. It's a daily radio program that goes through the entire Bible in 5 years.

I'm not trying to be rude but too many times topics like this start off in an attempt to spark a fight that goes on for three weeks with no useful purpose.

And God knows we don't need that...

now you should know your not allowed to ask any question of a religious person, on the way they do anything. Because they consider any question a attack on thier beliefs. and it seems most are not grounded enough in thier faith to answer. or they are to scared becuase they are programed to believe all that do not believe has they do are evil. talk religion fastest way to start a argument.

I've been reading this topic this morning. And omg you holier than thou religous groups are crazy. The person asked about internet and tv.Some of you act like they were putting God down.If you can't answer a question as simple as that one you sure as hell can't answer any important questions.Good luck trying to get people to believe your way to salvation.See it's your type of people who others see and hear. And you discourage them from believing in religion all together.

They don't have an answer. They know that internet is full of bad things but most won't teach against it because it is relativly new compared to TV. The Net is useful for research and other neccesary work. They are supposed to "not" go to the bad sites. They could do the same with Tv but they say that most people don't have the discipline to stay away from the bad channels. They know that this is a double standard and hypocritical but they do it anyway.
